.tv Got an Offer for my UK Geo (Opinions please)

Hi,

I got an offer today (contacted via Whois details) for my UK Geo Belfast.TV
Belfast.tv is a $500 yr premium.

The offer was $1500 and it will be refused.
I will counter but the prices i am looking for wont be met anytime soon, i wont sell for less than the amount i expect to get for this domain in 3 years time.

My plan was always to develop this but it depends on personal & business circumstances in the next few years but no matter what i am determined not to let this one go until .tv is at the peak of its potential and that wont be for a minimum of a few yrs time.

I am under no pressure to sell so see no reason for letting this go even if i would make a fair profit, i have great confidence & excitement in Geo .tv's so expect values to rise dramatically over the next few yrs.

What i would like to know from you guys is:
1. What do you feel Belfast.Tv is worth right now.
2: What do you feel Belfast.Tv would be worth in 3 years time.

I would really like you the views of those who own Geo's of similar quality.

Some info on Belfast for those who dont know:
Belfast is the capital City of Northern Ireland.
The City ha sbeen growing dramatically in recent years since an end to 'The Troubles' in Norther Ireland and now has a booming housing market, student population and is becoming a Financial Centre. It is a fabulous city that has become vibrant and exciting as the mood in Ireland (Northern & Southern) has got more optomistic every day that has peace.
The Population in Belfast Metropolitan Area is said to be 579,276 making it 10th in the UK.

in some years (3 years as u stated) will be worth 12 x renewal price(plus $1500 for renewal fees)

Belfast.info is developed though on Sale at Sedo. Has 238,380 page views according to Sedo tracker and has had 2 previous offers
Belfast.net is developed. Pagerank 2/10

Google results: 27,600,000 for belfast
Overture : 12,202 Searches per month

** Belfast.mobi is on Sedo at 10,000 Euro's

It all depends on your position.
Would you like to sell this domain to obtain/invest in other premium .TV domains?

I think at least mid X,XXX to low XX,XXX should be the price to give away this nice GEO .TV domain.

RAI is the public free TV channels (3 of them) in Italy.

In every domain sale, there will be some that will sell for less and some for more.
Not only that, it's also about timing and marketing it to the right people.

Applications.tv has sold for $15 (to investor I believe), but it may resell for much more in the near future.

Good decision mate,

Don't sell it until you get a mid to high x,xxx offer.

In UK and Scotland, the .TV market has begun to attract the attention of people. Hold on to your UK Geo names, imho.

Thanks for all the replies.

Here is my position and view on this domain:

I am under NO pressure to sell at all and can happily renew for year upon year. I dont need to sell to fund further .tv's as i have alternative funds that can be used for any further purchases.

I am VERY confident on the future of .tv but think we all neeed to be patient & not get too excited about sale prices as the market is just finding its feet apart from the odd BIG sale. For me this is an ideal time to buy in the aftermarket as some .tv owners are starting to get worried as they were expecting things to go too high, too fast.

Regarding Belfast.tv
1: I would say Belfast.Tv is worth maybe $3,000 - $5,000 now
2: I wont sell Beelfast.tv for a further 3 years when i expect the value to be 10x todays prices.

The UK Geo market hasnt really taken off and since there isnt a large number of Cities with financial power, high population and visitor attractions then there is not many UK City .tv's that are going to be worth a great deal of become very important to .tv's growth.
IF UK Geo's sold anywhere near prices of US Geo's then Belfast.tv could be a very high price and high importance sale.

I think you’re making the right decision – given your described circumstances (no need for immediate cash, patience, long term vision). This is an excellent UK GEO with great long term value. It’s a capital city with all the culture, activities, politics, etc. that comes along with that status. As you say, tourism is on the up (and Belfast is the gateway). Seems like more and more people from the London area are taking w/end trips there.

I agree with your assessment of value. Reasonable renewal fee for a capital city in the English speaking world. Although you might need an end-user to get mid xxxx today. Future value? – if .tv continues its uptrend you could very well hit the kind of number you suggest 10X, and that would still be a small fraction of .com values. You are right about Belfast, it is growing at a incredible rate with many people in the UK going there for short trips now that it is safe to visit and has a booming nightlife. I dont know how it is in the rest of the UK but in Scotland we get a advert on TV constantly for GotoBelfast.tv which is getting many people thinking about a visit, the ad shows Belfast as a vibrant, exciting, tourist City that looks great.

My figures for the value now & in the future may be a little optimitic but i see Belfast.tv as one of only a small group of UK Geo's that are important enough to ever reach big sales. Belfast is the only City in Northern Ireland that is important enough & has the key factors of industry, finance, tourism, population and so on that will allow a top quality business to be made from the domain Belfast.tv
IF Belfast.tv was ever developed to its potential then it could become THE Youtube/My Space/Bebo/Online TV provider for the whole of Northern Ireland, with the potential that Belfast & Northern Ireland as a whole have to keep growing then this could become a high value domain.

I betetr stop babbling on about this and give others a chance (i could talk about Belfast.tv all day!! :hehe: )

Anyone else have any views on the vlaue now and the expected value in 3 years time?
