Check out the video link I posted on a previous comment here, it gives a overview of what some of the reasons are to exit.
Well I've watched it and I am very disappointed. It could have been significantly better. If you want to make a case against the EU, you can find better arguments easily. It's a video made for kids I think.
Anyway, and to keep it short:
  • The favorite excuse of EU opponents is that they are victims of unelected bureaucrats, which isn't quite true.
EU MPs are elected, commissioners are designated by their respective nations. Speaking of democracy, Cameron is destroying freedoms at home at alarming speed (if you follows UK news you'll understand what I am talking about). The UK is more and more becoming a police state but he didn't start that trend (the culprit would be Blair I think). Is he trying to get more leeway to pass draconian laws ?
  • The UK will have to negotiate an EFTA treaty like Switzerland, Norway but unlike the UK these countries are part of Schengen and already implement a huge portion of EU law and acquis communautaire, with a big difference: they don't get a say in the drafting of legislation. It's a strange idea of sovereignty when you have to implement legislation you didn't contribute to... euroskeptics are not telling that to the people.
People who mention Switzerland and Norway as examples of 'independent' nations within Europe absolutely have no idea of how Europe works, and how these countries actually function within Europe.
If you think the UK is going to get a better deal, think about it: everything has to be negotiated, and the UK doesn't have the upper hand by leaving...
  • Now Cameron has a bigger issue on his hands: Scotland and Northern Ireland. He further shook the foundations of the UK and has played a very dangerous game.
  • Huge monetary costs, employment lost, investment opportunities lost while the benefits are less than clear.
I could go on and on. There are no winners here, only losers. This is only going to reinforce nationalistic/fascist-leaning trends all across Europe. Who wins ?

I just can't see how the UK is going to be better run, more democratic and prosperous nation as a result. Ironically, it's hardly going to become more 'sovereign' than it is. I would rather say the opposite. To be sovereign, you have to be strong. When you are alone, you are weak. And even while leaving the EU, the UK is still subject to a plethora of super-national laws.
People are going to find out the hard way.

hmmm you do know it's It's not a video that I made, just a link I shared :).... and I did also clearly say to you that it is "a overview of what some of the reasons are to exit" - It does not even begin to address the complexities of the matter.

Well, now there is the whole process of Britain leaving the EU, and all it entails.
But for sure, I am glad they did.
Too many unelected EU people pushing a very liberal agenda.
Look at the so called judges of EU, handing out punishments to countries for not wanting refugees, fining countries for the weirdest things. and Much more!
When a court and judges, never elected, can tell a country that they can not deport a known terrorist?
How can you stay in the EU?

Here's one of the various reasons Brexit won...

Im sure the remaining countries will do fine if not better without British partisapation, the new family arrangements should operate with more harmony.

I have my doubts, but... only time will tell. Hopefully the EU will learn something from this, but once again, I have my doubts.

I'm simply an Eurosceptic, till proven wrong, or when we can rid ourselves of the majority of these slimy EU leaders

It's best not to deal with unhappy campers, the EU is better off now.

It's a new EU landscape now so we need to pull together and reunite. :)

It's funny, it reminds me of the countless complaints US States are making about the federal government meddling in their affairs, or trying to regulate them.

The UK are not the only unhappy campers in the EU.

The EU would be better with the UK, but all the ridiculous regulations, laws and other policies that the EU imposed on the Brits and others, forced a lot of people to get highly pissed off and the result is Brexit.

I love the Brits and will be sad to see them leave, but, I have to take my hat off to them for having the courage to tell the EU to...

Happy independence day my compatriots!

I'm so happy that we will regain our sovereignty, dignity and democracy!
I hope this will be the beginning of the end of this supranational federation of bureaucrotwats!

And what do you think is going on in the USA???
We have Trump railing against the system and he may be our next president.
Yes, we are overrun, from the local level (when is the last time anyone voted for the police chief?) to the federal level, with unelected officials (EPA, DHS, IRS, etal) making decisions, laws and more!

So, it is not funny from my side of all this.

Okay, the market people say....do not get excited about today.....
Next week will be back to normal.
USA markets, etal are not at all affected by Brexit.
Oil will go back up next week.
Gold should come down next week.

Just interesting to listen to people I never heard of from places around the USA opine on the markets and how they are working with their clients, etal.

Oil, the take is this:
those driving yesterday were out driving today, and will continue to drive.

All markets they are looking next week for those who went long on oil, bonds, stocks, commodities to pull back and sell off part to all of their long positions.
