A British referendum led to a surprising 52% of Britons casting vote in favor of a “Brexit” from the European Union.

Whether this was a smart move, or a grave mistake remains to be seen.

For now, the interest has spread into the domain name sphere, with the owner of Brexit.com seeking to sell his asset.

Naturally, a variety of “Brexit” domains have been registered, and the following gTLDs are taken:

What is your view on this Brexit related domain name investment, and also, investing in trends, in general?
Have you ever had an early bird advantage on picking up domain names on something trending and making a profit on it, except the chinese trend??

In this same vein, I was wondering how this vote will affect .eu and similar domains.

The vote is done, it's old news. Brexit will probably never be mentioned again in a few months.

Any Brexit domains are a total waste of money IMO.

The owners of Brexit.com and Brexit.co.uk should have sold before the vote.

Unless they do a re-vote. 1.6 mil signatures are on a petition to redo the vote as the first was non-binding and a lot of people realized it may be a huge mistake. Also, there is now a lot of push back from North Ireland, Scotland and a push from Spain to retake Gibraltar as they don't want to leave the EU. So I wouldn't call it done by any means.

I'm from UK, there will not be a revote lol.

A revote indicates we are morons to the whole world and we have no clue what we are doing.

Brexit won fairly. It's done.

FYI - I was in the REMAIN camp.

Breentry.com is available to register if you think they will re-enter the EU

Sounds like good brandable anyway

Just going by the German news mostly. That vote killed your markets (and a lot of others). But the fact that Cameron made it non-binding does leave it open for some flex.

Cameron has stepped down as Prime Minister. That's pretty binding. :-D

It's killed the markets in the short term perhaps but the money saved not paying EU debt and injecting that back into the UK will boost our markets over the long term.

Also isn't it possible to think if the REMAIN camp won instead there would be petition by the LEAVE camp with 1+ Million votes?

Whoever lost would do a petition. That's life.

Yea, I have heard you have the new Trump look-a-like now. I see a lot of fall out still ahead from this, but they have the right to choose the path they think is best. And I get the EU debt thing, also takes the UK out of the requirement to take in more refugees. Just wondering now what the other countries will do. If mine leaves, the EU is done.

This seems to happen over and over. When the dress color debate started in 2015, many related names were registered. Since then, biggest part has been dropped:

In this same vein, I was wondering how this vote will affect .eu and similar domains.

To know more => Go to the website of EURID (the registry) =>www.eurid.eu, and look for their phone.
They are open from 9-17 during weekdays (GMT + 1/UTC + 1). (several languages are spoken).(but it's possible they get an enormous amount of phonecalls now.

I do own several .eu-domains,(( AND even .SU-domains (Soviet Union ; yes this extention still exists !!)) and also .co.uk domains (but only a few .co.uk).
But the Brexit is not final yet.

More info in the following page at the eu-registry about UK can be found here =>http://www.internetnews.me/2016/06/24/brexit-impact-eu-domain-registrants/
