Thanks @JimJammy . I think one must have a portfolio before applying for logo designing. I'm thinking of creating a portfolio to stay away from cheap logos.

In my opinion Bodli and @thekiller's Phyzion Domain logo are not even $10 worth. Seems like the designer used old school method of creating logo using powerpoint or mspaint. Their logo designers are not giving their 100% in logo designing.

I wasn't thrilled with it. The Q is pretty confusing. Could be OLongo.

I'm not sure what is going on with this one, either:

It looks cartoony, unlike any other logo I've seen on BB.

Quite like the styling of Qongo...just not sure how it relates to the clever play on the country "Congo"?

As for the bodli logo...the less said the better...

I'm just interested as to what the normal process is with regard to changing the logo?
Obviously the logos are just used as a neat device to visualise a domain and not necessarily what the end user would want but a really bad logo could potentially do more harm than good. Has anyone had any experience in changing logo's on BB?

The scary part is not much the logo for Bodli itself. It is that BB approved that logo and published it.
If they begin to decrease their quality standards in logos, it is not a good thing.

I can make better logo than this, the reason I cannot apply for logo designer account is that I don't have public portfolio, however I can make better logo in Photoshop and Corel Draw and I have made a few for my personal websites.

Do something about it... go make a public portfolio or stop complaining. If you can design a logo, then you can easily create a portfolio of logos. You get no sympathy when you CAN make logos but you claim you can't make a portfolio. Some people just want to have their cake AND complain about it...

I'm considering this. That will save me few $xxx in logo fees. Meanwhile my second domain COSIGA got published. I have 5 domain in BB review and 3 in pending logo design.

These barely qualify as logos. More accurately these are just text. Clearly anyone could "design" these "logos" in about 20 or 30 seconds.

These barely qualify as logos. More accurately these are just texts made in a program that required all of 30 seconds to create. . .

Wow, I hope my logo designers make a little bit more effot than these 2. I definitly feel a better logo will sell the name faster... Like you said @Compassion i wouldn't even consider them logos, they are just basic text fonts...

Perhaps people were complaining so much about how long it take to get their domains listed they started having lower standards on their logos to get them out faster

Indeed. Perhaps any sort of quality standard was thrown out the window in favor of faster turnaround times. A + B = C. Weaker logos + Faster publishing times = Less complaints from customers . . . . or will it?

Yes, some logos are simply unacceptable.
We give $100+ for that logo ($200 in my case, hoping to be processed quicker). So I am expecting at least some artistic effort. Some logos took the designer 2 minutes to create. That is not worth 100.

It can get worse, and I am not exactly (too) sensitive on that issue. Some 12 hours ago my "nanoxa" went live and the logo ... well, it was unspeakably bad, like a badly zoomed out, poorly pixelized reject from early eighties, so I asked for it to be replaced. Waiting for their decision now.

The logo on the marketplace is just to help the buyer visualize the brand. It's the domain itself that they will swipe their credit card for.

Agreed, however to give $100+ for a design that has no artistic value and took 30 seconds to make - is at a minimum - questionable.

Put up a contest on NamePros for a $100 prize to design a logo and you will get at least 3 or 4 logos to choose from that are in a completely different league than these recent BB logos.

...Wait a second, forget the different league analogy.

The designers here are playing a different sport.

Yesterday I would've agred with you totally, since, as you say there are good and bad logos. Then I saw a terrible, ugly one, which happened to be linked to one of my domains, and I had to put my foot down.
