The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Agreed, however to give $100+ for a design that has no artistic value and took 30 seconds to make - is at a minimum - questionable.

Put up a contest on NamePros for a $100 prize to design a logo and you will get at least 3 or 4 logos to choose from that are in a completely different league that these recent BB logos.

The majority of your names on BB will most likely never sell, so basicly you're paying zero dollar for most designs and $100 for other in the case of a sale. If you think $100 is too much you can adjust your listing and increase the price a bit.

Trust me, the logo's (good or bad) don't sell your domains. With all of the domains I have sold on both BB and Brandroot the buyer ended up using their own logo design anyway. The logo on the marketplace is just to help the buyer visualize the brand. It's the domain itself that they will swipe their credit card for.

Wouldn't a good appealing logo, make someone stop and actually look at the name rather than bypass it when scrolling through? I'm not exactly sure how a buyer searches through BrandBuckets inventory though...

Also true.

Perhaps behind the scenes the top tier designers got tired of this trend and have gravitated towards more reliable logo designing gigs . . .

Nanoxa! The new hot game for your Atari 2600! :'(
Pixel graphics can be good looking, but encasing the "xa" at the end of the logo was a really weird choice.

Wow, I really feel for any logo designers reading this thread. Can we remember that these guys basically earn nothing, they only get paid if a domain sells.

Those complaining should learn how to create their own logos and apply to be a BB logo designer.

Or may it serve as a reality check?

Perhaps we can turn this around into gratitude posts for quality logos

I am grateful that this logo looks clean, professional and attractive: https://www.brandbucket.com/sterical

Hi Nps,

Its great to see branbucket thread buzzing and busy. I came through last couple pages in past hour and seen lot of enthusiasm and positive feel - that's great. I would like to comment to some topics and raise others to spin the wheel. I am with BB for about 4 moths now and my portfolio is growing. It seems that I am better in picking names, due to leaning curve and also http://www.brandbucket.com/criteria/ where I picked up important information which improved my approval rate. Regardless I am still picking up some losers (50%) and still do not understand certain types of domains (2-3 words) but I guess it comes with practice. I am satisfied with majority of my designs except one (veegy), but as somebody said designers also don't have it easy. Still waiting for my second sale to boost my moral - but I am patient. There is one issue I would like to raise up and hear your opinion.

I have had few domains published this weekend, but as before I am having hard time finding them on the page. I thought that all names were displayed according to published date (at least on the home page) but that does not seem to be a case. So what is the rule for displaying our names? Is it random or is it managed by somebody? I understand that with 13000+ domains it is daunting task to optimize search engine, but what is important IMHO to make sure that all sellers have equal chance that their name gets discovered and sold. Maybe Michael or so other BB representative could clarify display algorithm to us.

Thanks

Muttus

Click on a "menu" button in the top left corner and then pick "Date added" from "Sort by" drop-down menu. Main page is by default reserved for "Staff picks" and it's been that way for a while.

Hi Muttus

There is a menu in the top left hand side of the site that looks like this:
r8yu.jpg

By default it is set to 'staff picks' so staff picks are what you see when you first visit the homepage but you can change that to whatever you want.

Not that it's really relevant. Very few domain buyers are going to come to the site to browse, they know what sort of domain they are looking for. Let's say they are looking for a name for a site about vegetables, if they search for "vegetables" BB displays all of the name that has vegetables as a tag... your veegy is among them :D

When did brandbucket start accepting exact match keyword domains? I see babysit.me on their homepage. Can't get more exact match than that. Only one type of business can use that.

Discalimer: I am in 100% support of BB's right to do as they alone see fit and am always thankful for the opportunity that I would not otherwise have had.

But.

This seems to have gone unnoticed, but what caught my attention was not the use of keywords, it was the use of a gTLD. I didn't think they were doing anything but .coms? If they did this could be a problem as it will flood their already clogged submission system, yet it will be more opportunity for us.

What bothers me more is that the guidelines and their info pages clearly say, no keywords and only dot coms. I have tried to play by the rules and only submit within the stated guidelines, but now I am tempted to drop all 600 of my names in there just in case I am overlooking an opportunity that I had previously passed on because i followed their rules.

I agree with you Doron and in speaking with Margot and Zane when he was running Namerific, they both said that many companies don't use the logo after they buy. The logo was more of a help in the prospect process because if you just listed all these names in plain black and white text they would not sell. I always thought it was the real dilemma, or puzzle to solve, because the logo design holds up the process as it takes time, but the logo is not used in the end most times. So its tricky and you never know will a bad logo turn someone off, and a good logo convert an on the fence prospect ?

According to Margot's interview on Domain Sherpa, BB starting accepting a large number of dot LYs from a single source about 9 months ago. But the dot ME was an eye opener for me as well. I think if you are interested in the new gtlds you could message BB and ask them if you can submit some via email.

Regarding the guidelines, there are a number of things in the guidelines that are inaccurate and outdated. When Michael gets his feet on the ground this may be repaired as the website is one of his areas of expertise and responsibility. However, I'd rather see Michael spending his time doing outreach and vendor/seller education as those will help our bottom line a lot more than the former.

Brand Bucket rolling out new crowd naming service "Name my Company"

http://tldinvestors.com/2015/06/brand-bucket-rolls-out-new-service-name-my-company.html
Did anyone actually find out where this service is?

I wonder if this email went out in error since the service doesn't seem to exist yet, and I assume they need to on-board their community members in order for them to be able to provide the suggestions, never mind offer an interface for all this to work in?

Any ideas Raymond? Did the email give release date details or include any links?
