I agree with @Robozy . The discussion shouldn't be about the pros/cons of .ly domains but whether BB is confusing and diluting their market place by listing/brokering them. I have spend lots of time and money building my brandable domain name portfolio and since a large number of these names are currently listed exclusively with BB I think I have a good reason to be concerned about the recent changes and how they effect me as a seller.

It's been another good week! Sold the following on BB over the last 7-10 days...

At last! Names submitted 3 weeks ago have been reviewed, they accepted 4 out of ten on the first batch, two of which in the 3k range, so I'm happy. Onwards and upwards as they say...

Hmmm looks like they did away with the categories? It will now depend on keywords imputed in search results...

At last BB had reviewed my names and one went alive today ! even though i wait one month, now i feel its worth, because still NR and BR are working on logos..:)

However the bad thing is i couldn't find my name without searching it

I can confirm that BB have caught up to the 3 week mark for reviews on my domains. I can also confirm that I have had a drop in sales rate since they started accepting so many names. I suggest that they tighten things up and reduce their acceptance quality threshold, which will improve their service and the quality of the marketplace.

Just submitted a few names on BB over the weekend for the first time.

Will see which get accepted and how long until they go live albeit I am expecting between 4-8 weeks based on the others.

I guess if you have a tendency to sell a lot on there, after the initial stages, the waiting time becomes irrelevant if you've got some up there for sale already and making sales too.

As of now, it's a 3-4 week time frame from the time a name is submitted to find out whether a name is accepted or not, and another 1-2 months for it to go live. The other process, description, logo is an unknown. We shall see... On the positive side the $10 fees can be subsidized whereas with BR there is no way around that. And as is the case with Namerific, the only way to get any traction is to pay $25, which is an expense I can't afford at this time.

Great to see BB looking through the submitted names which appears to be at the 3 week mark, from 'acceptance' or 'rejection'. And as of now they are accepting 30% of my names, which I'm happy with. Prices ranging from 999-4k. They are also very quick to write descriptions, within one day of acceptance. As of now, 4 weeks into the process, I have no names yet published anywhere. NR is slow, slow, slow, and BR has since stalled. We shall see...

Can we list domain on BB, BR & namerific at the same time?

Hi,

BrandBucket requires all domains sold at its marketplace to exclusive. I think BR requires the same.

Which one is preferable?

:)

Well, I'm a BB Amabassador because of my excellent selling record on BB, so I have to say BB. I've sold over 30 names there.

Hi Michael,

Over what time span do you think you've sold those 30 names since starting out with BB?

I am just curious that's all.

Thanks.

Hi,

My first name went live probably 13 months ago. I have around 700 names live on BB now, but the vast majority have been added over the last 60 days. More the most part I had between 35-125 names.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks!

Thank you for the speedy response and answering my question.

I have no other questions for now as BB have answered many questions already :)

Thanks!

After the 4 week mark, out of ten names accepted they all have descriptions. One even has a logo, though none are live. I suspect the one has a logo because it gets a little bit of type in traffic.

After one month, one name went live today 9 waiting for logos. BR not far behind, though none published yet.

DomainSherpa has an interview with Brandbucket's @margotb online today. I havent seen it yet myself but i certainly will when i have time later.

Edit:

Just watched this and for anyone interested in the brandable marketplace (wars) it's a recommended watch. Michael Cyger from DomainSherpa (who's always great imo) pretends like he isn't very familiar with the space but he manages to ask all the all right questions.

Here's the link: http://www.domainsherpa.com/margot-bushnaq-brandbucket-interview/
