I have a question and I don't have the experience to know the answer:

Can a brandable domain name which isn't a complete keyphrase or a single keyword go up against a highly searched keyword or keyphrase domain name in search results or is it a waste of time to even try? I have read opposing views on this and I can't decide whether to invest the time, money and energy in developing a brandable domain name?

Would really appreciate some views on this and sorry if I have posted to the wrong place or if this question has been answered before?

Yes. Google.com > Search.com

No.

If you don't have a genuine passion for the content in the domain then don't bother.

Make use of the search feature.
