Bought some Expired Domains - Now What?

Hi All,

After picking up some domain names from the dropped list, I am trying to sort out my next steps, and some questions arise.

1. Thinking about selling at Sedo - fixed price with 'make offer' (can I do that?) to avoid the much higher auction fees. Sedo seems to be the most popular one out there - are there others I should consider?

2. How do I establish the 'fixed price'? I was thinking about using estibot value, and then take best offer from that point. Or is there a better strategy?

3. If I sell at Sedo, must I park the domain at Sedo also? Or can I park it elsewhere?

4. Is SmartName a good place to park? I see that there is an 'application' process, so I don't know if I would be accepted, or what qualities they're looking for (a minimum number of domains to park there?). Any other suggestions for parking?

5. I could also set up my own landing page - set up add on domain, install WP, and put some adsense up there along with a for sale message. Possible, just more work. Would this be more advantageous?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Kat, ubernoob

Like buying a gun in the US, there should be a waiting period for buying domains with manditory classroom hours required. :)

1. List your domain at SEDO and some other places that you find as well.

2. The Estibot appraisal is the best price you could ever hope to get with the perfect buyer and 0% unemployment. The SEDO appraisal may be more realistic, but it's hard to say. If you'r not sure, try to make a profit of 2-4 times what you paid. In retail sales, that's insanely good.

3. You don't have to park at SEDO, but try it to start with. If it sucks as much as it did when I tried it, you can try someplace else that sucks.

4. I don't know smartnames, and I forget how they are connected with. Many people like NameDrive and Parked. I use TrafficZ. I would try to use a service that uses a GOOGLE feed and not one that uses a YAHOO feed, as I think it will work better in most cases.

4. Yes, it's more effort but I think the reward is greater in general. You can promote and build traffic to your domain if you host it. Most parking providers do not allow you to get links do things to get more traffic. That means that domains that are not getting traffic have little chance to and don't earn anything. If you don't want to host yourself (recommended) them Whypark.com and Noomle.com are other options.
