I bought a name on ebay and when I go to pay for the name through the paypal link I get a message that the transaction has been cancelled.
I tried contacting the seller , but no reply.
Name only went for $3.36. Looks like the seller has changed there mind and are not going to complete the sale.
Can they do this on ebay???
Seller has over 1100 feedback with 100% rating, so i thought it would be o.k.

Post a link to the auction; chances are there is something in the fine print about having to pay from PayPal balance only, or not allowing CC transactions or bank account transfers only.

If the have PayPal selected as a payment option in the auction listing, then eBay requires sellers to accept credit card funded PayPal payments. Of course, chances are the seller is upset at the low price and is most likely going to re-list the domain name. Even though eBay auctions are supposedly legally binding, there is not much you can do to force a seller to sell if they don't want to. All you can do is lodge a "non performing seller" dispute and they will get a black mark - if the seller makes a habit of doing this, they can be banned from eBay.

If you do decide to file a dispute, do not leave feedback until the dispute has been resolved and when it is resolved, if you still don't get the domain name, leave negative feedback (be clear and level-headed with what you write - keep emotion out of it) and be prepared to receive retailiatry negative feedback from the seller. You can then respond to the retaliatory negative, again in clear, level-headed language. Don't worry about taking a hit on your feedback - a negative feedback hurts a seller more than a buyer. Chances are the retaliatory negative will be emotionaly worded and future buyers and sellers will see through such feedback.

Above all, it is important not to threaten or use emotional language when dealing with the seller or with eBay. Be courteous and professional in all dealings.

I thought that paypal must be the problem as i always got this error message. So though that I would just try again in a few hours , well days have passed and still the same error message-
"This function is temporarily unavailable. Please try your payment again later by returning to eBay and clicking the My eBay button."
the auction is -

I have had a problem with ebay before when selling thru paypal.
The buyer has paid in such a way that paypal has asked me to upgrade to a business account which I have declined and informed the buyer of the no go.
The solution has been for the buyer to put funds into the buyer paypal account and then transfer from the balance to the seller account, as indicated above.
The seller in your case may not know that there is a solution to this problem ( assuming that is what it is) and just cancelled the sale.
don't go negative on the seller...once you do this its all over.
....threats will not produce a positive outcome...only when you are sure that no further action is possible do you post a negative feedback...
....you have 3 months to post ebay feedback which gives you 3 months to resolve the problem.

It appears that he hasn't relisted the name - yet... So maybe it is just a glitch with PayPal, though why he isn't responding you email is another matter.

If the seller isn't responding to emails, you can try pulling his contact details.
To request a member’s contact information:

1. Click the “Advanced Search” link, located under the Search button in the top right corner of most eBay pages.
2. Under the Members section on the left side of the page, click the “Find Contact Information” link and provide the User ID of the member and the Item number of the transaction you have in common
You will then be able to get his address and phone number, plus he will be infoormed by eBay that you are getting his details, which usuallly is enough too shake them up a bit and get some action.

Pull the contact details and give him a call and then start a non-pperforming seller dispute.

Yes, it is unwise to race in and post negative feedback. Thanks everyone for your council.

I really dont know what is happening as the seller has not replied to my email or the message i sent through ebay.

I dont know if this is a name he has just decided not to let go for $3.36 or if it is a paypal problem.

Just wish he had contacted me.

From the look of the seller's history, he only accepts PayPal so he should already have a business account. According to eBay's terms and conditions, iif you state that you accept PayPal in an auuction, you MUST accept credit-card funded payments - no exceptions.

As far as leaving feedback, definitely wait until this is resolved one way or the other. Even if it is over 90 days, it is still possible to leave feedback if you know how...
