You thought no one would take it or you underestimated it´s value.
Then maybe 2 months later you get a "oh" only to find out it was taken the day before.

My best contribution I can come up with to this thread is DigitalMediaPlayers.com . Estibot "value" $17000. D-:

I've had quite a few in the past but nothing major (except for ones I can't remember back in the 90's that would have been worth lots these days), just names I had put in my "to buy" database but when I went to buy them a bit later they had been scooped up.

I should have mortgaged my house and bought out all the LLLL.coms and L-L-L.coms when I had a chance in August. Does that count? I certainly regret not doing that...

My 'shoulda woulda' story, is I had DBA.com in my cart back in '99, and as it was a $100 a year to reg back then, thought I had one too many in my cart and tossed it back.

ahhhh... spilt milk... :'(

A pronouncable LLLL.com I found available sometime around August. I didn't have enough money in my Paypal at that time. :(

I have at times regretted not getting more LLL.mobi. I had no spare cashflow at the time and so I think that it was a safe decision to make and I don't regret not making it. It is more of a case of regretting not preparing for the landrush and buying too many domains before it.

When I started in 1996, there were so many high quality domains just sitting around on the registry floor, I don't know where to start listing them, so I won't.

Here is one easy to describe regret: Of all the .com I registered, I wish I would have registered the .net versions too. oh well.

Honestly, I think that domaining is about moving on from the "what if" domains and looking at the great opportunities that exist today.

"Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." (George Santayana)

Some people benefit by reading about the mistakes of others.

Maybe a couple .us when I got in to this a couple years back. Otherwise I wish I around the net before 2000 - we didn't have it at home though.

Last month I found great two word generic domain name. When I was about to register something came up and went to do something. When I came back till then it was all gone and I kicked myself for whole week not giving 2min to register it. Moral of the story "Register the domain first even the sky is falling". :imho:
