Yes I just tried out various top keywords and for one of them I found one, available left, a .pl (polish).

I made some research and found out it had had big daily traffic, at least 8k a day.
I regged it immediately. Payment went through. The domain name came into my registrar account. Not until then, I tried it in the browser. A big website came up and it had been there for some time, at least since December 2006.
I called the support and was told that the domain was indeed available but I had to wait a little until I got control over it.
But.. How can this be possible... the site is still out there. I have sent an email to the registrar´s registry department.

I was a little thrilled at first but ... maybe this is just som silly polish business...

Edit!
I thought I let the incompetent LeapFish value it and even if the value was 1/100 of this, I wouldn´t complain...

Polish domain leapfish-"value":
http://i11.tinypic.com/6fr52y1.gif

And this domain, I have in my account... or really not?!!

It's not yours until you'll be able to change settings (DNS).
Since the A record of the domain are still pointing to a site, I would think that a glitch in the registrar database have let you regiser it, but they'll probably cancel your registration as soon as they realize.

Sometimes, it is better to browser the domain name / website before attempting to register. i know people get excited when they see the good domain available. They try to check the domain history on Archive.org and Alexa.com but forget to enter the domain name in their browser to check if the domain name really available or there is huge website.

yup..unless you can edit the nameservers and see a change from accessing the site in the browser - then it's not truley yours yet. Could have been a simple glitch on the registrars part and once it's realized you will be refunded your reg. fee

This is bad though if the domain is currently being tasted.

If you want the domain, you should definately stay away from clicking the name or the taster will see those hits as visitors and keep the domain.

Got the answer. With an excuse for some technical glitch yes. The name was and is still taken.

Will 1 hit make any difference?

A few years ago, when I first started domaining, I've registered Gold.com :hehe:
I've been refunded 2 days later :'(

In my experience Leapfish grossly misunderestimates/underestimates international tld's, expecially those with generic terms...

though it may be valuable, i doubt the polish are on the net that much!

LOL, don't you love it when this happens?

I remember last year I registered 888.us and had it in my domain name account. Untill I got an email saying it was already taken and I got a refund.

You get soooo close then.. swoosh.. its gone like that.. LOL

yeah what happened finally?

the WHOIS isn't up right now..says there is some server problem

I remember when Who.is showed Travel.us as still available..(of course it wasn't. I would've been sitting on 100k in cash right now otherwise..)
