Let this be a lesson for me and anyone who plans to auction domain below $1000 on sedo.

I decided to reject offers on NP and send my domain to auction on sedo. Not only did I loose $300

i loose on paypal fee
loose on $50 fee to sedo

and lost extra $300.. NP members bid higher then sedo users...

On NP I had more offers then I got on sedo... i will never ever again sell on sedo for domains under $1000....

:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

I find Sedo auctions somewhat hit and miss. Sometimes they work out well, sometimes not so well. A few have been major disappointments, a few have left me quite satisfied and happy to give them their commission.

It sounds like you took your chances on Sedo for a bigger payday. I wouldn't blame them for your bad decision if you understood the rules going into the game. JMHO.

I just won't list on sedo again for domains below 1000, NP members are much more active in auctions right here...

Sedo is blacklisted in my books as of today!

If you have a certain amount in mind you'd like for a particular domain, you can always try to get a NP member to send an offer for that amount -- then you get the best of both worlds :)

we all have to learn somehow... i will only auction my domains on NP

not only do i have to wait now for payment... they give the buyer 10 days to send payment.. and then another god knows how many days to get the money cleared..

Sedo sucks!!!!

That's not always true. We here at Namepros at shrewd, tight, wise, experienced, and always looking for a bargain. I couldn't even get an appraisal, or offer here at NP for UV.tv, but I sold it in the Sedo auction for $4,355!
I'm not knocking Np members, but I think Sedo buyers are more enduser, and NP buyers are more wholesale rate buyers. We ain't gonna pay a penny more than we have too!!

Sorry to hear it didn't work out that way for you. I'm sure you still came out ahead though, so keep your chin up!

I've had Sedo auctions go almost double what I was offered on the forums, and I've had them go less. Like Reece said, it is totally hit or miss. Sometimes you have to take a risk to get a nice payday, and sometimes it doesn't pay off. I wouldn't totally discount the entire marketplace though.

Sounds like its your fault. Sedo charges the minimum fee plus 10% unless its parked at sedo. If noone else bids on your domain you are obligated to sell it to whoever won. If the name calls for it, your chances of selling to an enduser for higher dollars are at sedo. Domainers on the forums here and elsewhere are out for reseller pricing mainly.

Not to get off subject here, but is that a small cow (Reece's avatar)? Ha! Now I know what they mean when they say "he's one fat cat!"

I have without doubt had far better results via Sedo than ANY of the forums, best results have generally come via whois contact.

However-I too have put a name on Sedo at a low reserve expecting better results - didn't happen - Se La Vie.

Sounds to me like YOU got it wrong and are putting blame anywhere but in the right place:? IM-HO.com

I think SEDO is the best chance to find an end user. I have seen domains sell for thousands that can't even get an appraisal, or opening offer on the forums.

You would have thought it was the worst domain in the world! Then it sells for $4,355 at Sedo! Don't know what is was, the $1,000 annual reg maybe?
For me, Sedo has been a seller too! Again, I'm not knocking NP, just giving credit to Sedo.

Sedo has been an excellent venue for me, but I think the auction duration is too short when you choose that option as a response to an offer. I tend to stick with a counter offer because of that limitation. Imo, for the average domain name, a seven day auction doesn't seem to work that well, especially if your looking for an enduser price.

its hard to justify which is the best place.some works better there some works better here.. it really depends on ones luck..

well it really depends how much you paid for it to begin with. I would sure love to get $500 for a domain I paid $59 for a dropcatcher ;)
