Wow. It's been quite a ride seeing this sleepy little forum of few hundred members grow into the living, breathing active community it is today. I remember a time not long ago I was able to personally welcome and get to know everyone who joined this site and be part of almost every discussion on here. Now I consider myself lucky if I'm able to just scan through all the new threads in a day. We've gone from giving away a few domains a week to our most active posters, to actually selling thousands upon thousands of new domain registrations. (And using NP$ only, who would of thought?) Our weekly live auctions continue to be a popular draw, and things show no sign of slowing down.
My reflections have a reason behind it. This month NamePros.com will officially go from being a website in my own personal home business to becoming a company of its own: 'NamePros, Inc.' That has a nice ring to it.
And the time has come for me to publicly admit that this site has become too much for me to handle on my own. I while have no desire to go anywhere, it would be beneficial to my mental health and development of the community to be able to share some of the administrative duties that have been solely on my shoulders. Therefore, I've agreed to take on a partner to act as co-owner and administrator with me. His name is Timothy Parma -- though you probably know him better as '-db-'. I hope you will welcome Tim in this new role.
Our active NamePros management team will hereby consist of Mark, Chris, Tim (-db-) and myself. All current Forum Leaders will remain on staff and one of the first items of business will be to work with them to decide what areas of the site need new moderators and what we can do to better help them in their roles. These guys bust their hump to keep things moving smoothly here and definately more recognition than they get.
Current management team members Jeff, Apollo (armstrong), and Michael (Grrilla) have each had personal situations leading to less available time online, so I would like to release them from staff responsibilities with an expression of gratitude and thanks. I've created the distinctive title of Staff Emeritus for them and they will retain some special privileges and moderation abilities. Their contributions to our community as staff have been invaluable to the development of NamePros, and I look forward to continuing to receive input from them in the future.
I called this a "BIG Announcement" but you may not notice any big changes at all. I'm not going anywhere, and nothing should change that will affect your membership here (pay sites suck). But if you do notice anything, I hope it will be that we're operating more efficiently and better than ever.
Thanks for being a NP'r.
Sincerely,
Ron
