I mentioned this earlier, and lots of people seemed REALLY interested in it - including a lot of staff, so I was wondering if there's been any more thought to it?

Basically the idea was to have a section where members can upload templates their own templates, PHP scripts, etc... and "sell" them in the store. They would be able to earn some NP this way, and it would provide a plethera of new - and probably some quality stuff - to the NP store.

Of course, staff could review everything submitted to the store, and make sure it's worth putting in there.

Another idea would be to have templates with 2 prices on them:
1 price for the basic use of it - anyone can use it.
1 price for the sole use of it - pay this price, and the template will be removed from the store.

What do you guys think?

Honestly, I feel that this is the best suggestion I've seen yet in my two month span of posting at NamePros.

With the growth of the web design and programming section, it's only a plus for NamePros and its members. New members will be attracted to join and participate in community activities and discussion if they can purchase a script or design they have their eye on in the NamePros.

I also really like the 2 price idea, it's what they do at large template sites. Why can't NamePros be a domain and website development site?

I hope the NamePros staff seriously considers this one. :)

Yes, this is a good idea, and I don't know why RJ still hasn't said or done anything about it. I think the thread last time was filled with replies on this good idea. Anyway, I hope this suggestion will be considered!

I can think of a couple reasons this might not be a good idea, but maybe I'm not understanding the whole picture. Anyway, I have a question. How would this be any better than people selling templates or scripts in the designated sections we already have? ("Web Designs For Sale", etc.)

Job, wife, kids (including a new baby expected soon), and the other 1000 things people want him to do with NP. That stuff keeps him pretty busy. I think the man only averages about 4 hours of sleep per night.

Agreed. It's one of those ideas that sound good on paper but in reality probably won't work, like communism. Just post your offerings in the proper sections, it's not like it costs you any money to post. There is a NP$ offers section so why would more stuff be needed in the store? A lot of offers in the NP$ offers section also accept PayPal, what's the need to add it to the store? Think about it adding anything to the store kind of adds more liability to NamePros. Might as well keep it at things that can be fixed with a simple PM or Private to Staff message.

I think the point is that it will reduce the hassle when you want to sell something. Instead of posting a thread, checking back for posts, recieving payments, and then sending the files, just upload the files, and wait!

Sorry, I didn't know that. I just think (along with everyone else here) that Namepros is THE BEST, and making it better is just CRAZYILY COOL because we can't imagine what's better than the best. :D

It is.

I'm not completely sold on this idea, but I do think that there is a good chance this will not get done. there would be so much time and effort seeing if the work that is being posted to be sold in the mall was actually created by the claimants.

Let's focus on what's currently here, and make that better.

I think its a good idea, if people use it in the correct way.

It'd also save a lot of thread bumping.

For those that feel it's not necessary: Is the domain clicks for credit necessary? There could just be a forum to do the same thing. NamePros still has it becuase this make things easier. If we had a "mall", so to speak, it would make these transactions easier to manage and more efficient...

Give yourself a break RJ, stop killing yourself! Try to get at least 7 hours of sleep. :)

lol. Agreed, Shan.

I do want to emphasize that I'm not "begging" for this or anything - I just remember it was an idea that lots of people were interested in it before.

I also want to emphasize how much I really do appreciate this community, and all the features it DOES have. Keep up the great work, RJ and staff!
