Hi

Bido will be launching and sahar is a great domainer and seems like a great guy from what I have read about him. Rags to riches story.

I know bido is very young vs sedo but I will go on record with this one

We are supporting sedo to a group of people that went on record they dislike us on .tv domaining.

Sahar a year a go went on record on his blog with a sentence or 2 liking .tv extension.

I am not saying we all do a mass rush to bido on all of our .tv names but I am going be testing them out and I would rather support sahar then sedo mainly on there view points of .tv

When .bido catches on, drawing buyers in, wonder if there going call end users as cold calling, mass mailings maybe they will be a better fit for .tv sales?

My worries

Small company

Sedo brings in the masses

Somewhat worried how it will be the players only group and there mass .com names like a nap.com, candy.com and list goes on. Sahar is in big league category but I wonder how .tv will appeal to there platform since all of sahar friends, domainers will view .tv

I am assuming all extensions for this auction.

I am going try it out if I can or put .tv names in. At least I respect the guy from my readings and a true success story vs sedo where they dislike .tv.

Cheers
J

Ps... It could be a bit early on bibo for .tv and appeal to just domainers. That's my biggest worry. Nothing wrong in trying. If you don't try you won't know if you fail or if it was a success.

June 18th is launch.

Maybe I will try a couple .com names as well.

Jeffoverman, thanks for bringing up the topic.
BTW, I am very curious about Sahar's concept for one daily domain auction per day. Any idea about this ?

Who cares what extension Sedo "likes" or "doesn't like" I would imagine all auction venues will list whatever can be sold for the highest price. Personally I doubt more than a token .tv will end up on Bido, at the end of the day the right choice is what pays the bills.

there wont be token anything- mostly .coms
but then you never know- i was under the impression they were after generic coms- top of the line names- i dont find GoldAuction.com fitting into that category- or VacantRoom.com- cant see them paying too many bills

Yes it is a medicore list, I was surprised they wouldn't be taking a bit more risk, names like that aren't going to generate any excitement.

having given it much thought since the post, i think down the road would be a good route and experiment if they ease up on policy..

i didnt know the full details by them when i posted..sorry for not doing my research...snoop your right, what pays the bills and who does the best....i agree, but yet i also lost respect with sedo quit some time ago and there .tv comments...

anyone that has any luck with bibo when it opens up, feel free to post or pm me...i hope its a success and they open up the extensions

maybe with sahar view points on .tv that could change for the better and .com investors beginning take notice on .tv extension...

lol....thanks in posting ....i think the word is out, lol...not by us buy rons amazing write up, the geo market .com domainers and others going after .tv

i dont really care if domainers like .tv or not...i used to care, but having a couple domainers on .tv and our side never hurts...... prices will go up and more knowledge extension....i think the tide is turning...

i have a 5 year horizon with my names...if not 7 years...now i just to trim more names in .tv and start the developing process again...

i want to see what dnzoom has in the works for us .tv in the future.... a commission is a comm...would rather pay that then go to sedo if they can do a good job when there gaining ground

We will be introducing other ext's as well over time. The first batch is .com, but we will have others.

Thank you for the welcome Jeff!

If you have some .tv's for sale, please feel free to submit them for consideration and we will look over them. Variety is always welcome!

Regards,

Sean

What Domain Names Would You Like To See Listed On Bido?
Published on June 15, 2008 in Bido/DNZoom and Domain Names. 8 Comments

(Sample screen shot of a domain listed with Bido with a US $500.00 Bido Guarantee)

Earlier today, while browsing a couple of domain forums (NamePros, DNF, DomainState), I saw a poll on DomainState that indicates the first batch of Bido domains is weak. Our take on it is itโ€™s all relative. โ€œWeakโ€ in comparison to what? Million dollar domains? six figures domains? For what weโ€™re doing, starting price of 1$ and no reserve, we feel these domains are extremely strong. The question we asked some of our friends before the list was chosen was: would you bid 10$ for this domain? Would you pay 100$ for that? How about 1K, or 5K? The responses to these questions on the list published were all in the four and five figure range. Now will these domains actually go for these prices? This is what weโ€™re all going to find out. It is not what I believe they should sell, it is not what other believe these domains should sell, it is about what the market will bear at the time of auction.

From our experience the list we published represents a solid five figures inventory for a total starting price of US $8.00 and no reserve. While we would all want to see million dollar inventory for 1$ starting point and no reserve, without solid history and experience in the auction field, without making sure the software works and handles everything as we hope it would, it is just unrealistic at best. We believe, once we test the system, once we build history, once we are more comfortable, at some point such inventory would be available.

I would like to hear more of what kind of domains and domain categories you would like to see listed? Are you interested in three letter .com domains? four letter .com? product type domains, information based domains? Geo domains? IDNโ€™s? possibly other extensions than .com? SEO (Search Engine Optimization) driven domain names? Direct Navigation (Type-In) domain names? Revenue (cashflow) domains? The more you tell us the better we can serve you.

Have a great day!

Sahar

P.S.

A little update for the day, weโ€™re testing and testing and testing some more. All of us are extremely tired, working days and nights to meet the deadline. We look at the release date (June 18th 2008) as the STARTING POINT of Bido, not the ending point. There are going to be many fixes, many upgrades, and many issues to deal with, some that we are aware of and some would be concerns/feedback from our users. While we do not know how Bido will work at start we do have what we believe is a novel goal in mind - to create a liquid market in the illiquid world of domain names.

i guess what confuses me is- they are going to have domain experts- i am guessing to give their input about the domains-

now, a name like vacantroom.com-

what exactly is the expert going to talk about- how the term gets only 117,000 google results?

how the term scores a 7 in keyword discovery?

how there is no real monetary future for the name? what exactly would you do with this name- maybe a furniture store could use it, in a brandable sort of way- how to fill your vacant room- and that is a stretch.

but, its these experts that throw me. my guess is they would not be up there down talking a name- would be bad for business- but on the other hand, a name like that, how in the world do you up talk it, without looking like a slimy car salesman who is trying to make a yugo look like a porche? in that case, it would take no time at all to watch the reputation of the bido "experts" go down the toilet.

dont get me wrong- i am not knocking bido at all- i am excited for the site and hope it goes thru the roof- we need alternatives to sedo and afternic. but i think i have a legitamate question- something isnt making sense.

this is the part that confuses me-

I'm curious how its all going pan out and good points dottie.

Just like with a young company, you learn new things every minute, make revisions and trial and error.

We all know there .com investors mainly and the story on them. Rags to riches, a domainer that is branching into some developments and etc.

I just want couple .tv names in there auction process if it makes sense for the owners. Give it a few months at there end and hope to see this a geo .tv name in there or a high profile name in there.

The thing that I believe Bido needs to do when there in critical masses, doing more then one .com name a day and surly down the road but I'd like to see them hire couple cold callers and do a mass calling with end user.

Say wimax.tv is in auction one day there in 3 years time. So Bido is making calls, emails to people that sell routers, wimax phones, wimax services and etc. Example of a domain I am showing.

By doing this, end users will be competing vs your typical domainer bidding up things or just off ppc parking, the Kevin hams, Scott day, etc.

Do this after a couple years and let Bido run its course, trial and error.

Only time will tell on this but there very smart people behind this and I am sure they know what to do in making this work.
