BIDO bad experiences

Hello all,

just want to spread my experiences with BIDO. Lately I had a domain in auction with $xxx highest bid but not met the reserve, as I checked few minutes before end of the auction.
Usually, Bido gives you the options to accept the highest bid, re-list or decide not to sell.
Next morning I found an email saying "your auction is now close with no bids"
I have submitted a ticked to find out, but not respond, until I have send another with my request of closing my account.

Their answer:

Hello,

Thank you for contacting support on that matter.

The bidder in that auction was paying for their won auctions,
so we had to retract these bids. Apologies for the inconvenience.

If we may assist with anything else please just let us know.

14 days later....TEAMEDIAUP won 3 auctions...no response...no payment, no Bido help.

They ask you one time $1 fee to place bids but each time they ask you to deposit more... I sent a ticket and the person told me to deposit another $1.. I told him I already did it but he didn't read my message..

Did a paypal claim and won lol

First, I want bido to succeed. We need other marketplaces. But there has got to be a standard set and rules followed. Otherwise, it will not be taken seriously. And will attract not so pleasant people.

I will add one more story here that for me, really changed the way I felt about bido. Early last year, Bido wanted customers to use their parking platform. To incentivize sellers to move their names, they offered a certain amount of credits for the number of domains parked. Credits are useful. You can throw a domain on auction with them and try to get some quick cash.

Each week on Monday they would credit these "credits." One day, out of nowhere, the credits were not credited for the previous week. It took me about 3 weeks to finally get a support person on chat (you used to be able to do that...get them on chat). What they said was astonishing. They said management had made the decision to no longer do this. I couldn't believe that they thought it ok to NOT inform anyone. I said surely they plan to honor what is already owed for the previous week, right? NO.....they did not. And that really made it clear for me.

I immediately moved all of my parked names and did not look back. And ended up at DNS....and of course, could not be happier.

I'm absolutely going to file a paypal dispute - on page merits alone of the way Bido chooses to do business. The $1 dispute is already in motion - I would assume I also can dispute the 3x$8.88 that I spent to accelerate each unpaid for auction - correct me if I'm wrong....(what a scam - NEVER PAY to send a domain to auction - learn from me!

IMO avoid yourself anger and do not use BIDO, the process is extremely slow unless you have money to list the domain right away but being sure the domain will sell for at least low xxx I would list it on Flippa and not in BIDO.

I bought some domains on BIDO and everything went fine; I haven't tried to sell any though.

As for Flippa well a lot of listings are fake and driven by the sellers who have fake bidders to push the price.
Same story on NameJet for private listed domains.

I had someone bid and send to auction a domain for 24 hours. The next morning, that bid disappeared and ZERO explanation was given.

I am looking for payment now for 17 days from a buyer at bido. The amount is insignificant.

This buyer is also a frequent poster here at namepros. Can someone please explain to me why you would place a bid and then not pay? And not have the common decency to reply to multiple messages.

I have NEVER not paid for anything. Even when I have bid in error. It was my error and I should have been paying attention. If I click buy now - I buy now and pay now.

And this follows another buyer who made offers on several domains / offer was accepted, then did not pay for one of them.

And another buyer who clicked buy now for a domain....and did not pay.

I'm sorry that you had bad experiences with Bido and they've been screwing you over and over... but why are you still using them?

Well....because if I stopped using every place that screwed me over (meaning had buyers that did not pay), I wouldn't be using any services anywhere.

I do have to correct that....one place that does not tolerate non paying buyers is cax.com. If you do not pay, you get the boot.

Maybe I was a hideous pig face in a past life. I have had at least 12 non payers at sedo over the last 2 years. Right now, one at godaddy. Francois does not tolerate non paying buyers. I appreciate that.

Sorry to hear about your issues with Bido @Bearded Goat.. You're right though..it happens everywhere. I've had non-paying buyers at Sedo, non-paying buyers at GoDaddy, and pretty much all the other places. Thankfully, it hasn't happened very many times to me. Hope they can get things sorted and you can get payment for the names which were sold!

I get the same thing at dns. Someone who will have an offer accepted and then they don't reply or follow through.

This post is really not about the money. It is about the psychology behind why someone would make a decision to bid / buy now and then not pay.

And to me, the worst thing in the world is to not say anything. At least if I bid on something and then could not pay for some reason, I would say that. I would tell the person something as opposed to not having the courage to say anything.

This post is really not about the money. It is about the psychology behind why someone would make a decision to bid / buy now and then not pay.

Nothing of what im about to say justifies the bad selfish behavior, but ill explain a bit the mindset of these annoying pigs.

1. The guy who selects buy now and never pays:

Anytime you have an item for sale that the buyer knows there is only one like it, you put max pressure on the potential buyers brain as they fear they will lose it to someone else. At the moment they justify everything about the item and rush to place a bid. Once they calm down and do research all of a sudden they regret the purchase.

This happens in Real Estate and local auctions too.

Marketing 101 teaches you that you must explain why they must order "now". Furthermore some of the more popular TV channels that sell stuff always try to tell people there are only a few left. Some TV commercials tell you that you get an amazing benefit if you call within the next 10 minutes. They know one must be under pressure to buy up junk after junk that they dont need.

eBay use to be a big problem because of this, people created accounts they saw a cool item, they hit buy now, the item gets removed and now you wait forever to get paid. Thats why the service of immediate payment required is so great.

But domainers make mistakes too. If you get an email with a guy offering you 500 bucks for a domain and you say yes. Instantly that guy feels that if he would of offered 300 you would of taken it to. Now he might vanish and decide he will try again in a week. Always counter even if its 50 bucks more.

Like homes people either fall in love with it or they dont. But like homes a day can go by and you see other options or you come to your senses and you decide against it.

You have domainers that if they post a auction on gd with a buy now of 1200 and someone buys it they all of a sudden start feeling that they should of asked way more. Some resort to BS stories how they meant to enter 12,000 but gd messed up.

A good domain marketplace would work like this:

To make offer enter your credit card info, if accepted your card is charged plain and simple. You can still counter this guy and the final result is whats charged.
To list domains on the marketplace you must pay a 500 dollar security fee. You do not deliver a domain the fee is taken and your account canceled. Your 500 is returned to you anytime you wish to close your account.

There are ways to make the buying and selling of domains way better, for now we trek along like fools and waste lots of time.

No, that's the definition of an ahole. A con artist who pulls that stunt should never again have a chance to get the domain.
