.tv Bid on freesms.tv.

Hi fellow NPers, I would highly appreciate some advice on this one :)

Some of my .tv names are listed for sale at Sedo and I received an offer of EUR 230 (around $330) for Freesms.tv, I replied with EUR 500 and just got a reply again that EUR 230 is his / her final offer.

What would you do, I will make it easy by having only 2 options:

1. Send the name to Sedo auction as EUR 230 ($330) is a good offer.

2. Cancel negotiations as EUR 230 ($330) is too low.

Edit: I'm getting too good advice and new information here and went against the votes, sorry for that :)

Happy Christmas :santa:

John.

I would cancel, feel it is a little low for a domain with potential.
I am not sure if you know but FreeSms.nl sold for $1,539 Dec 07 (According to DnSaleprice)

Good Luck

John, I would go with option 1. While it is a good domain and maybe you can get a little bit more, it is a technology domain and some technologies are strong enough to last for decades while others are short run. Which category this is you need to decide. Put a little Christmas cash in your pocket, you deserve it:)

Sell, and here is why.

SMS is primarily for text messaging, which unless you have a really great dev plan, is kind of wasted on TV.

I don't think you will get any higher in auction, and you could piss off the buyer.

Just my 2 cents worth from someone who doesn't care for text messaging much.

1- I would send to auction.

Thanks Ronnie, I didn't know that.

Also noticed that a few weeks ago gratissms.se ('gratis' means 'free' in swedish, dutch and spanish) was sold for EUR 21,900, a lot and way oversold of course.

And I just found that sms.tv sold for $18,000 around two years ago:

Smash, when I got the offer, my gut was telling me to send it to auction.

However, knowing the sale prices of freesms.nl of $1,539 (thanks Ronnie!), as well as sms.tv for $18,000 and gratissms.se ('gratis' meaning 'free' in swedish) of EUR 21,900 ($31,500), my gut says "keep it for a while" :)

I say send it to auciton!

Your portfolio is not only large, it is high in quality, I think you can let a few lesser quality ones go for a profit.

Just my opinion.

Normally i would say send to auction, however in light of these recent gratis or freesms sales.

My vote goes to hanging on to it for a while.

Hope this helps

Cheers

I say option 1 because:

1- That money could easily buy a much better name.
2- Those other sales may all be legit, then again, they could be inflated or have other things involved in the sale. So I don't think they are a good barometer.
3- If I know my advice, and I do, you will probably choose option 2 and make a fool out of me. In which case, I have done you a favor by steering you in the right direction, if only by accident. :)

i vote in auction and it should be higher.

i love "free" terms......very powerful name, even the great .com investor frank loves the term free.

Good luck, keep us posted.

Thanks :)

Appreciate all your advice and added rep to everyone, except for domainacrobat as it seems I'm already to fond of you :)

The information on the freesms.nl sale makes me really like to keep this one and hope you don't hang me up for that as I go against the votes now :)

Also Jeff's advice about 'free', helps with my choice, even though he prefers an auction :hehe:

Thanks all!

I would say that it's better to send it to auction.
Good luck John :)

Or you can always hold out and play hard to get for more dollars and you sell dogs.tv to me in 2008 lol. My dog kona would in return give really make her happy.

The term free is unique. I own a few free terms and love them. I am not selling these yet.

Good luck in whichever direction you do.

Cheers

Oops. Thanks in np! Nice of you. Nice gesture.

Happy holidays

Thanks, once I change my mind I'll let you know :)

Decided to cancel and already did.

Have repped everyone here (except the one that I couldn't rep due to previous rep), thanks all for helping me decide!

Send it to the agencies

freesms.tv is a great domain!

you might want to consider offering it to mobile companies direct or to their advertising agencies. this domain has loads of possibilities for television ad campaigns. worth way more than u mentioned.

good luck with it.

I would sell it, as I agree with what Shaw says - that SMS and TV doesn't go together very well with (if you don't have any development plans for it).

John did you ever get any increased offers for this domain?
Reason i ask is that i found a similar name but wasn't too sure on the value.

Cheers,
Ronnie
