I am going to tell you about a gigantic project going on in Abu Dhabi called Reem Island. This project is so huge 3 of the largest developers in the UAE(Tamouh, Sorouh, and Reem Investments) are building it. It is even bigger than The Pearl Qatar project that appeared in this forum last June.

- Reem Island is a combined residential, commercial and business project being built on a natural island off the coast of Abu Dhabi City and will be directly connected to Abu Dhabi City by a number of bridges. The location of Reem Island is only 20 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport.

- Reem Island will accomodate and estimated 280,000 residents. Some estimates go as high as 350,000!!

- Reem Island will contain Numerous hotels, resorts, beaches, spas, shopping malls, restaurants, medical clinics, many, many businesses, a 27 hole golf course, etc., etc.

- Just one of the business projects on Reem Island is Addax Port. By itself Addax is a massive port project which will contain 5 huge towers: an office tower and 4 other residential towers. And this is just one "small" part of Reem Island.

- Of course there will be tons of luxury condos and homes and villas, etc. to accomodate the huge number of residents of Reem Island.

- Reem Island will eventually be the "center" of Abu Dhabi which is the Richest of all the Emirates. Even richer than Dubai.

- Do a google search to get lots more info on Reem Island and here are a few sites to get you started: ReemIsland.com, AddaxPort.com, ReemInvestments.com. There are many more.

- There are still many good names left. I picked up:

ReemIslandProperties.com

ReemProperties.com

...but there are still many more left. As a domainer if you miss out on Reem Island you will never forgive yourself. Good luck and I hope this post was of help to you.

Ahh, that reminds me, the name of that other page that said IT HAS BEEN AQUIRED BY US TO PREVENT DOMAIN CYBERSQUATTING

was www.sarayavillas.com

Interesting.

I clicked the link and it does take you to that warning page but when you visit the ultimatemedia.com you won't see anything but blank page.

Al Salam City, Umm Al Quwain

Umm Al Quwain (UAQ) is the least well known and least developed of the seven Emirates. Therefore for UAQ I will have only one Mega-Project to cover, Al Salam City. Al Salam City will be a gigantic development that will take place in 3 phases over a 15 year period. The project is being developed by Tameer.

"Al Salam City will consist of a number of residential districts, highrise towers, parks, playgrounds, and entertainment centers. The downtown area of the project will contain a huge shopping mall, a 50 story hotel tower, 20 residential and commercial towers, 1000 residential villa townhouses, and 200 residential buildings. Al Salam City is being built to ACCOMODATE HALF A MILLION RESIDENTS and every apartment and villa cluster will have its own access to a private park, swimming pools, childrens play areas."

HALF A MILLION RESIDENTS! HUGE!! This is going to be an incredible project and will be fantastic for UAQ and the entire UAE.

Here is a YouTube video on the project:

The Saudi Arabia Construction Boom: Domainers Take Note!

I am adding Saudi Arabia to this thread beacause they are undergoing a massive expansion in development. In fact they will be spending at least $624Billion in new construction and infrastructure projects! Though the UAE gets most of the spotlight Saudi is expanding in a BIG way also.

This Saudi expansion should not be ignored by domainers. There are plenty of opportunities in many areas for domain name purchase including: Mega-Projects; internet expansion; rapid growth in the cell phone industry; industrial growth; increased tourism, etc. EVEN DUBAI IS INVESTING! A joint venture between Dubai's Deyaar and Saudi's Arabian Arkan and Ibrahim Abdullah Abunayyan Brothers has gone forward. The joint venture will develop projects in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam.

I will be covering different areas of the Saudi Boom in future posts that I consider prime areas for domain investment. Here are some articles for you to review.

This one gives a good overview:

http://www.zawya.com/story.cfm/sidFFT1073021E5816FF/secCountries/pagAnonymous/lok000000071029

This one covers the Dubai/Saudi joint venture:

This one covers the increase in Saudi IPOs which of course is a benchmark for overall growth:

Abu Dhabi Marina Project!

EIP to Begin $1.4 AED Billion Project on Abu Dhabi Waterfront -

http://zawya.com/Story.cfm/sidZAWYA20071128072157/secIndustries/pagReal Estate

I did reg. abudhabimarina*info after reading this, .org is still avail if it interests anyone.

This brings a question I have for you guys.. I was wondering if anyone had any input? When regging/buying these types of domains, in what order to you value the top level extensions? This is my opinion:

1. com
2. net
3. info
4. tie org/ae
5. mobi
6. biz

1. .com
2. .ae (only due to expense and relitive lack of type in traffic)
3. tie - all others

.com
.net
.org
.info
.de tie with .co.uk

The rest is just filler to me.

Btw I purchased BahrainBayHotels, com and BahrainBayRealEstate, com for fun.
Not the best choices I know.

Only .com and .ae are used here, I think I might have seen a .net and .kr once.

Any other extensions outside of the 2 used within the UAE would be exclusively for country specific advertising within that specific country for the ccTLD.

The .org's .info's .cc's etc of the world are only useful for small web site development to get search engine traffic imo.

Incidentally, the hospitals out here seem pretty good.

Ended up in one last night with some bad food poising, took 15 min to see a doctor, and when it was all done, iv's, drugs, etc, it cost a total of $140 usd.

Yeah I agree with Smith regarding uae names been used - .com first and if its too expensive to get then they go with the .ae

(although some big companies have also dropped their .com in favour of the .ae - Duuuur, should have kept them both !)

eg - my RealEstate-Dubai_c*m one :tu:

...good to see they fixed you up Smith :)

Glad you're well Smith. Yes I agree that .ae and .com are ones used most by companies. I am grabbing .infos for development.. I think they are good ones to put informational sites on since these projects will be drawing much more attention in the near future.

Abu Dhabi A BIGGER Construction Site Than Dubai In 4 Years!

You need to checkout this excellent article which goes into some detail about how in about 4 years Abu Dhabi will OVERTAKE DUBAI in construction activity! This was announced at the MEED (Middle East Business Intelligence) conference that took place last week in the UAE. Notice that the picture that accompanies the article is of Reem Island.

Seperately, I hope you are feeling better Smith. Good to know they have good hospitals in Dubai. With all the wealthy investors and tourists going there they should.

The Saudi Arabia Construction Boom: King Abdullah Economic City

This is the MacDaddy of all Mega-Projects! King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) is the biggest Mega-Project in the Middle East. Bigger than any Dubai Mega-Project. Bigger than any Abu Dhabi Mega-Project. I think it is the biggest Mega-Project going on anywhere in the world, but I am not 100% sure. Total cost estimated at $120Billion. And who is developing it? Emaar of DUBAI!! As I noted in a previous post Dubai has taken a big interest in Saudi.

KAEC, when completed, will house 2,000,000 residents and create 1,000,000 jobs. Just imagine how big that will be!! KAEC will contain 6 distinctive areas:

1. Sea Port

2. Industrial Zone

3. Central Business District made up of commercial businesses, hotels, retail stores and a financial island

4. Resort District

5. Educational Zone

6. Residential Communities

Some of the facilities will include parks, recreational areas, healthcare centers, a huge stadium, beach boardwalks, lagoons, monorails, skywalks, FIVE YACHT CLUBS, etc., etc.

KAEC is so big and so fantastic It may end up being the number one Middle East Mega-Project...FOREVER! I don't think even Dubai or Abu Dhabi will be able to top this one!

Here are some pics of scale models of KAEC. Just take a look at these! INCREDIBLE!!

You're welcome. There are so many fantastic things going on in the Middle East domainers should know about!

Yeah, I must admit I was thinking the same thing. Saudi has not yet adopted the "open to outsiders" attitude the UAE has. However I think they will come around as they see the huge success of the open policy of the UAE. And doing some of their projects with Dubai investors can't hurt.
