Hi all,

Just wanted to warn everyone of a PayPal scam email being circulated. I got one this morning.

This is what it says:

"Warning Notification Dear" valued PayPal® member:

It has come to our attention that your PayPal® account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service.

However, failure to update your records will result in account suspension.
Please update your records on or before November 19, 2005.

Once you have updated your account records, your PayPal® session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

To update your PayPal® records click on the following link:
xttp://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/restrictedaccounts.asp

Thank You.
PayPal® UPDATE TEAM

Accounts Management As outlined in our User Agreement, PayPal® will
periodically send you information about site changes and enhancements.

Visit our Privacy Policy and User Agreement if you have any questions.

I noticed that the first link was cloaked. It leads you to believe that you are being directed to PayPal's site, but it really leads you elsewhere where it'll ask you questions pertaining to your PayPal account.

Regards,
Steve

You will find the same scams aimed at every site that requires you to enter log in details ... Not seen one for NamePros yet, but I am sure given time someone will :)

Basically you can ignore them, if you ever think one might be real DO NOT use their link from the e-mail, just go to your bookmarks or enter the URL that you know manually.

All the best

Unfortunately their methods still work and catch people out. New people are always signing up for the internet and it is their first time in cyber space. Once they get conned like this it reflects on all of us working on the net, as we often get tarnished with the same brush. That is why I will go out of my way to expose these people as best I can.

All the best.
