it refers to typoscammers ... people who used a typo domain of Google.com (googkle.com) to install a ton of viruses and spyware to anyone who mistakenly pressed an extra "k" while typing the Google address ...

Personally , I use a favorite to google but many people just type-in the address ...

Be careful with this because there is a small chance that more scammers might use similar tricks in the future (eg. other popular addresses)

in a sense , it could even affect typorevenues (I am referring to the legit type , generic words' typos) , if it gets widespread (meaning that people will get more careful on what they type)

I use a bookmark with a keyword in Firefox. I type "go" (no quotes) in the address bar then my query and it loads the Google results.

It's not a "small" chance either IMHO. Most scammers want to make money at any cost, if they see a new opportunity they'll take it.

I don't think it'll affect revenues from typos. Most people especially those new to the internet probably won't even know they've got a virus.
Even those with antivirus or antispyware probably still won't make changes. It'll just get blamed on "the internet", because nowadays that's what the internet is.

I think people will take more care on maybe their third or fourth warning.
If they don't have an up-to-date antispyware/antivirus that'll be a lot later or possibly never.

Factor in the likelihood of someone mistyping often enough to realise something is "wrong" they probably won't even connect the typo they made last week to the typo they made this week.
Even then the chances of them hitting two bad typos are still pretty slim.

CO , B33R - there are many ways to google but some people still type the name in the address ...

B33R - if many instances like this happen (eg. typoscamming of many more high-traffic sites) ... there is a chance that the word spreads that because someone typed a letter wrong it FUBARed his computer ... this could cause people to type more carefully ... and therefore potentially affect typorevenues ...

I get 404 when visiting the site.

Maybe something has been done about it.
