Hi guys, since lately we had some major changes in the market I would start this poll!
Until 2 years ago I was pointing all my portfolio to DAN, then tried Domain.io, then Afternic, and now Atom WLM.
Which is in your opinion the best marketplace in terms of STR, STATS, exposure, etc... where you point your domains in 2025?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
AfternicAfternic
I think baseline all of your domains should be listed at Afternic, Sedo and now SpaceShip just to tap into the 2 MLS networks and SpaceShip attempting to replace Afternic. (y) As far as where to actually point the domains you got...

NamePros 0% commission
SpaceShip 5% commission
Atom White Label 7.5% commission

Honestly there are so many new additions these days that you'd have to test some of these newer ones versus the old school Sedo/Afternic to see if reduced commission savings still produce the same sales volume. Personally over 23+ years wherever I point my domains is where most of the leads originate from but obviously I haven't tested every option out there as something new all the time. As long as the page looks trustworthy I have had zero issues getting offers almost anywhere and Afternic/Sedo are very small portions of my decades of sales.
I'm not a fan of anonymous offers so I'll list at Afternic/Sedo but it would be very rare for me to ever point there.

So where do you point your portfolio actually?

I would say "NamePros Landers" for the 0% Commission + Customization + Monetization options. It's one of the few (If not ONLY) landing pages that you can add all your own content, customize it with html code, don't pay a commission, no automated AI text or company ads that may cause legal problems, and the ability to monetize each landing page with your own ads (banners or links) if you want to. ;)

Wow I didn't know that. Can you also host your portfolio on your own domain? Like Atom wlm?

Some form of my own site or my own pages has produced the majority of my sales for decades with no anonymous garbage leads. Over the last year I've been toying around with....

Efty

Atom White Label

NamePros

SpaceShip

Domain.io

etc...

and I've basically found that wherever I point them same as usual the leads are still coming so doesn't seem to matter too much for my portfolio as a decent/aged portfolio. Anything other than Afternic makes me happy due to their greed. :xf.smile:

If I was new I'd list at Sedo/Afternic but I'd still probably point to somewhere where leads aren't anonymous as a lot of these so called Afternic brokers are no where near being a broker and have caused legal damage on quite a few occasions by withholding information.

I was pointing to Dan with great success. Then afternic some leads but never closed by their so called "brokers". Then atom, never got any offer for the last 6 months. So I'm looking for better alternatives

You can use HTML to create a tabled list of all your domains on each landing page (E.g. have the primary up top for the purchase features on the lander, then provide a list of all your other domains below it).

it might work better to niche them though, as in... if the domain the lander is for is about Food, the domains you list under it and cross link to their landing pages, should also be food related. That would probably help with a better conversion rate, keeping it all related.

not only that, NamePros landers index in search engines easily, so doing some on-page SEO for search engine marketing is a good route to take ;)

If it helps, here's a thread I made when one of my banners generated $100 on a NamePros lander: https://www.namepros.com/threads/do...ander-monetization-generated-100-usd.1357435/

And here's how I formatted the lander: https://www.namepros.com/threads/do...zation-generated-100-usd.1357435/post-9422532

I love NP landers, the only thing I miss is the possibility to ad a logo ... and I would mention that I have several names at a registrar where is impossible to ad the 2nd server (the long one) so I needed to contact their support and they changed the DNS but it took about 1 week.

Which registrar, and which TLD (extension) was this about?

Why cant you add a logo to NamePros landers? You should be able to use the img src html to add your logo.

I have images on all my np landers ;)

Afternic.

They deliver consistent results for my portfolio. And t's easy to add and verify domain names.

Plus, GoDaddy's reach and partnerships with other registrars expose my domain names to a larger pool of potential buyers than other marketplaces.

I set BIN prices for all my domain names.
And I don't do outbounding.
So Afternic works well for my portfolio.

Other marketplaces don't even come close.

There was a time I had more names on Atom than I did on Afternic, yet Afternic delivered far better results.

The abysmal results coupled with the new, quietly implemented fee of $1 to submit your domain names for premium review makes Atom a no-go for me. I have stopped adding new names to my Atom portfolio.

Plus, I have stopped buying domain names that I believe are only good for a brandable marketplace like Atom.

Sedo is even worse than Atom.
In fact, Sedo is absolutely HORRIBLE.
I've been on the platform with more than 200 domain names for the past 7 years and I've only had 1 sale.

And that sale happened last month with a domain name that I acquired 4 months earlier. And it sold on NameCheap through their MLS stuff.

I wouldn't even mind the bad result too much if the process of adding domain names wasn't such a hassle.

Afternic has a button you can click to verify a new listing at the point of adding a new domain name to the platform and you'd have the domain name verified 2 minutes later and proceed with listing.
Plus, adding names that have NEVER been listed on the platform is smooth, fast and requires no verification.

In contrast, Sedo makes you verify ALL new listings. And then they make sure to verify it in their own time.

I have added names at night that only gets verified the following morning. Some never get verified and I had to delete them.

Also, I have to wait for Sedo to finish their verification before I finish setting up the domain names. I hate waiting for things I shouldn't have to wait for.

So, Sedo is a NO for me too.

As for Spaceship, their decision to stop showing Afternic and Sedo listings makes them look like a tyrant. I understand the need to retaliate against GoDaddy/Afternic but what did Sedo do?

Also, failing to show Afternic aftermarket listings doesn't really hurt GoDaddy as much as the domain sellers Spaceship purports to serve.

In a bid to retaliate, they'll end up punishing sellers.

It makes no sense to endorse that by going out of my way to list my domain names with them.

If I have no choice but to deal with a tyrant, I'll deal with the one with the LESSER opportunity cost.

I would say godaddy due to their "penalty" for sales if not using their NS.
BUT without this penalty it's another story...

That convenience is causing reputational damage, however

I think there should be at least "light verification": listing new domains (names that don't already exist in the database) would be possible using their normal ns1/ns2 nameservers, no special verification ns (or TXT record) needed. Afternic wants sellers to use their nameservers anyway, and many do, which would make this step less inconvenient than at Sedo, for example.

I see how that convenience could be exploited by criminals to steal a domain name.

But I still like it.

Even if they were to institute a mandatory verification for ALL new listings, it'd still be better implemented than Sedo's.
And that's saying something for GoDaddy to implement anything better than anyone.

Biased, but Afternic. The setup many investors go with is:
  • Request Price: Generally the better path for higher priced names ($10K+).
  • Custom Lander with BIN (plus optional LTO / Make Offer): A go-to for names under $10K.
That said, portfolios aren’t identical - some investors see stronger results leaning into different landers, platforms, or strategies. The key is to test, measure, and double down on what converts best for your specific names.
