debate Where Do Domains Sell Best? Share Your Real Marketplace Experience

In the past year, I’ve noticed some clear differences between the major marketplaces. For the best prices, I’ve had success selling on Sedo MLS Premium. Afternic seems better for quicker sales, though often at lower prices. As for Atom, I don’t have enough experience yet to form an opinion.


Curious to hear from others: where have you seen the best results, and why?

Quality domains that attract a motivated buyer with deep pockets always sell the best. There is no secret sauce.

I'm not sure what niche your domains are in, but some marketplaces do slightly better than others for specific niches. At the end of the day though, it really boils down to the domain name itself, and not so much the marketplace. A good quality domain attracts buyers regardless where it's listed.

• You can have 10 million views on a poor domain with no buyers or inquiries.
• You can have 10k views on an average domain and get 25 inquiries/tire kickers of low-ball offers but no buyer.
• You can have 500 views on an above average domain with some liquidity and get 39 inquires mixed with low-ball, modest and considerate offers with 1 or 2 you might sell to at a discount for a quick flip.
• You can have 10 views on a quality premium domain with 100 low-balls, 50 modest offers, 5 serious offers (Because they found you via whois, direct type-in, or somewhere else, other than the marketplace listing itself) and the ability to negotiate and have them all bid against each other in an auction you start and link them all to.
