Best Domain Registrar for Long-Term Investing? Porkbun vs. Dynadot vs. Spaceship

I’m a beginner domain investor with a portfolio of around 40 domains, all registered with Porkbun. I’ve been really happy with their service—their interface is simple and lightweight, their customer support is great, and their marketplace only takes a 7% commission. Plus, I like their landing pages.


Recently, I came across some 2023 and 2024 polls ranking the best domain registrars. Dynadot was ranked #1 both years, with Spaceship coming in second. Porkbun was ranked #5 in 2023 but improved to #3 in 2024, which shows they’re making good progress. It got me thinking about whether I should stay with Porkbun long-term or consider using multiple registrars.


Here are my questions:

1. Should I stick with Porkbun for long-term domain investing to keep things simple, or is it better to diversify across multiple registrars?
2. What makes Dynadot stand out? Is it just the discounts? I saw they had a $6.99 offer for .com domains, which is a great deal, but how often do they run these promotions? Their regular price seems to be around $10.86, which is only slightly cheaper than Porkbun’s $11.06, so does it make a big difference?
3. How does Spaceship compare? Their pricing is around $9–$10, which is reasonable if their service is good. I’ve also heard their interface is easier to use than Dynadot, but not as smooth as Porkbun.
4. What about landing pages, commissions, and integrations with Sedo and Afternic? I’ve heard Spaceship has a great lander, but I don’t know much about Dynadot’s or how their commissions compare.

I’d love to hear your experiences—especially from those who’ve used more than one of these registrars. Which one do you prefer and why?
