I have respect for Berkens, but this sale is unbelievable.

It is not $16K to $60K? He sold it with what is the superior Stock.Photos IMO, so it depends how you value Stock.Photo alone.

Not to mention a lot of these transactions seem like money just circulating among the same small group of domain investors.

On a side note, I am not really comfortable with people who are running an auction being involved in the bidding. There are too many potential conflicts of interest.

Totally agree. Seems to apply across the gtld spectrum in particular.

Not a con but certainly appears to be a few incestuous relationships in the genre. :)

Nope. Please don't try to put words in my mouth. I am just saying that this was a transaction between two people heavily involved in Namescon. I have no reason to believe it is not a legit transaction.

I will be more impressed when outside investor money comes in and starts buying new gTLD at premium prices, if that ever happens.

As a matter of interest I look forward to seeing how those gtld still in the online auction perform in the next few days in comparison to those mainly registry submissions that were selected and sold at the live auction.

Someone on OnlineDomain.com made the following comment that sums it up well.

So one of the guys who runs ROTD won a name in an auction they had put together. The name he won was being sold by the registry that was a title sponsor of the conference and then the name was resold to one of the guys that runs Namescon who had trouble bidding on the auction running at his conference.

What a trifecta!

You can dislike my post all you want but your quote agrees with the person you quoted, it was a con job in your opinion. Plain and simple...

Google con and start at the top of the thread JB you'll figure it out. Read the replies slowly...

What are your views on it? I've read the replies. I've been reading how you're putting words into people's mouths. Even when they explain it to you, you do it again.

But since you said Google con, I found out what that meant. Then you said start at the top of the thread. That's post #1, your post. So you're saying it's a con? con = first post?

I'm just reporting the news, thought it was a great flip after the auction. A conspiracy theory started with all replies, which you liked one of them above. I'm not seeing congrats Mike but rather comments verging on a con, that's all.

I've never said it was a con, you know that so don't twist my comments. Also I can't put words in peoples mouths as you may think, that's a ridiculous comment.

Very clever nGTLD PR stunt to create hype among domainers as this news was too fast to come out... It would help create higher price value with the other nGTLD on auction IMO

It's like a real estate agent bidding on an auction on a house he is selling and wins the auction and then sells it to his flatmate an hour later when his flatmate was attending the same auction? Very unusual, not really in domaining it doesn't surprise me at all???

Sorry Brad, didn't know I could do that BUT you did sum it up with your opinion.
