Hi!
After my introduction here on namepros I've spent most of my spare time on reading and learning about domains. A big thanks to some of you guys for providing great links and articles.
At the moment I'm trying to learn about what makes a domain have value. I've been looking a lot on the forum and somewhere, someone said something that really stood out to me: to have a better understanding of the value of domains, you have to think like an end user.
That really got me thinking and it made me look differently at the 5 domains I've bought already. While I found them awesome at first, it's hard for me to imagine end users using some of them for something really big or serious now.
So as part of my learning process (I am a person who learns best 'on the way', so by trying things out instead of just reading), I thought, why not BE the end user for one of my domains? At least for now.
I've taken classes on HTML and CSS last year, I have experience with designing (and I LOVE it as a hobby) ánd I got some extra spare time this month. My idea kind of was to build a website for 1 of my domains, design a logo/logo's, try to make it look professional, try to gain a bit of profit, and hopefully increase the value of the domain (since it'll be together with a site).
The options I could think of with BeatingHearts.co are
- Dating site. Doing this through (for example) dating factory would be the easiest option I think. I won't have to worry about the general coding and can put my focus fully on the designing and getting traffic. My only worry is that it'd sell harder this way. What do you guys think? Since I won't have coded it myself and dating factory has pretty high commission rates if I remember right.
- Website with articles and tips regarding love and relationships. I love this niche (lol) and I think it'd be fun to make an informational website out of it. Could generate profit through adsense.
- Website with articles to sell a relationship related product. Something from clickbank, could generate profit through hoplinks.
- Website about heart diseases, cures, doctors, and all that. Again with adsense.
What do you guys think? I'm obviously still going to be learning-learning-learning about domaining, but I would love to use one of the domains as such a side project. It might increase the value of the domain or even give the domain more attention, I think. And if it'll generate money before it gets sold (at least to compensate the reg fee, lmao) I'll be happy.
I would love to hear your opinions, also as for which option would be best suited for the domain above. Which option would probably have the most value or increase the chance of me being able to sell? What do you guys do with domains you really like and can see yourself using? Or do you just collect them?
For my project I might use HeartBeatings.co or JobDiscoverer.com
Still not sure about that.
Kind regards
