Shareprices are down
Houseprices are down
Employment figures are down
Peoples savings are down

Oil prices are up
Food prices are up
Energy prices are up
Peoples stress levels are up

NOTHING STAYS THE SAME.

If the economy is so bad - why are the values of .TV names going up, the premiums of .TV prices going up, but the registration prices going down.

Shoot, there was even a rumour that Snoops bought a .TV the other day!!

Is .TV bucking the investment trend or are we all deluded?

This post was written almost 6 months ago.

I bet that Snoop has hundreds of .tv domains in his portfolio now. :D

My thoughts are....

1) we cant travel as much, because of gas prices, and the airline prices are going up for the same reason, so, we have to entertain ourselves at home more. TV.

2) wise investors can appreciate a baby that is about to grow up and become very popular.

ps. who is Snoop? an anti dot tv person?

Snoop is a .com missionary sent to save the heathen from the false idol .tv, and convert them to the one true extension, or something like that.

Just adding a little levity on a Friday evening, folks. Nothing too serious, to be sure.

Really? Since I started a few months ago I seem to be up by about 50% all as a paper profit, but then again, I'm not into blue-chips but only specs :)

Supply & demand. Less supply of good available hand reg names & more people coming aboard to the .tv extention

each day more people are discovering that domain investing is another option , plus with the wide spread reporting of the sale / non sale of pizza.com i think more people a taking a look at this 'domaining stuff'

Domains have always had an appeal to investors and sadly to 'unvestors' (people who have a natural inclination to throw their money away).

However, with .TV, it just seems that, taken from a purely monetary point of view, you are always on a winner if you can find the right name.

I can't think of any share which you can purchase for $18 on day one and then achieve a sale (mostly to other domainers) of at least $60 in the first year - a 300% plus profit.

Occasionally, you may even get lucky and sell to an end user and the percentage goes off the scale.

My question still remains - Are we deluded, or do we happen to be in the right place at the right time.

Right place right time--this is the time to buy--just wait till the new tv's become netcentric--dot tv will be HUGE! IMHO

We are definitely in the right place at the right time. The extension is blossoming in perfect sync with the proliferation of videocentric sites. I have seen a massive shift in brand awareness and sales this year and I actually think .TV has thrown off the shackles and the stigma of the past. And ChannelMe (rarely mentioned these days thankfully) seems a thing of the dim and distant past.

I have noticed too that more people are developing their names - which is great. One only has to look at the great work shocko has done on travelguide.tv to know that the future is pretty much assured! The snowball effect has started and I don't think it can be stopped this time.

IMO

in australia you have to spend $500 the first time you buy into a company on the stockmarket compared to the price of a domain name ..... say no more

The latter, domain prices generally have been falling since the start of the year, the only exception from what I can see of it has been three letters .com's.

Snoop you are so wrong its amazing how a guy owns doll.com and other type in names but yet makes general remarks like this

So geo names are not selling, don't tell Richard this one.

If your judging by marketplace here as facts and your conclusion its a bit bias.

Good research snoop. Keep it up and continue to look at .tv market place for your conclusion but not the overall market.

The overal market for domain names are somewhat weak as well.

But don't tell .com people this.

Well, that is what I just said, "domain prices generally have been falling since the start of the year". Weird that you'd carry on about how wrong I am then say basically the same thing as the point I was making.

What's weird is that continue your tactics with .tv

But again, you have all the answers in the .tv forum snoop don't you.

Jimbo brings up some good questions.

With oil up an all time high today, was up over 11 and hit a record. Stock market issues and here in Michigan things look gloomy here.

But go red wings! Lol
