Automated Whois for 100 international domains?

I'm looking for a free service or php script I can edit to gather some whois data on a couple hundred international domain names.

This is for legit purposes as I just want to research the country of owner registration vs. the ccTLD they are using.

allwhois.com is quite excellent in this regard but of course doing a batch with them is impossible

I've found a couple of php script but they don't handle international domains other than .co.uk

Thanks for any suggestions!
