This isn't exactly with a domain name per say - but more the content of a website, I figured it would go here anyway. Are Lowest Unique Bid websites, such as the script sold on http://www.uniquescriptz.com legal in the US? So far what I've gathered is that they are..but I figured I'd pose the question to you guys before moving on with building one.

I tried to do a bit of research on the topic. Didn't find much information, but noticed that most of the info and actual auction sites are related to the UK, Australia or Canada. Most of the sites have Whois protection..

Basically, it's a very shady grey area. As for US laws, I didn't find anything. But, considering that it has elements of gambling and possible consumer protection issues, I probably wouldn't recommend it :)

As long as the proceeds of the winning bid price / amount goes to a real charity org then this is fine and not considered gambling. Usually what will happen is the site owner running the unique bid site will charge $15 to $25 per member to join the site which gives them "x" amount of bids to work with. If they want more, they can pay more...

Peter

****Edit: I appreciate your comments on the legal aspects, but lets try to keep the sales pitches and links out of the legal forum. Thanks :) -RR
