Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Is the domain listed on the marketplace, at least as standard? It happened to me as well, I tried to sell a name, but it was not for sale at Atom. Once listed, the buyer can confirm the Escrow and should receive mails as well. Unless there is a technical issue currently

According to their T&C's this shouldn't happen (although I do believe you)

4. If the domain is currently not in our system, it will be automatically added under your account. You may need to verify the ownership by adding a TXT record. However if you have a trusted seller account, you will be able to bypass any ownership verification requirements.

It is standard, I also tested it with another name. I do not get the emails. If you can, try for yourself to confirm. Thanks.

It must be a glitch then. Hopefully support can look into it asap. Good luck with the sale, rooting for you. Luckily you have alternative options in terms of Escrow

@Atom.com your AtomPay service says it will allow sellers to see when the link was opened and how many times. This was a VERY helpful feature. However, when I go to my AtomPay links, it appears this level of detail has been removed. Can you please add it back asap? It is quite important for a seller to understand if a potential buyer opened the payment link (for follow up purposes)

The emails that are not working are these Atom pay emails. Could have closed my first 6 figure domain sale yesterday, but I don't believe the buyer ever got the transaction email after I inputted their email. I tried sending it to my other email as a test this morning since I have not heard back from the buyer after letting them know Atom.com would send their transaction link, and I am yet to get an email, nothing in spam folder.

Their support chat was not helpful simply saying "They probably offline at this time." but not looking into if the email was sent or not.

Also, the fees are wrong. It should be 3.75% not 4.5%

Ran another test this morning and the email sent this time. The previous test has still not sent the email.

However, the links provided in the email are incorrect and give a 404 error

If it is readily possible to add this back in I would also really appreciate it, @Atom.com .

Thank you so much for the great new interface, that I appreciate in many ways as I get used to it.

Why are there standards if you want Premium Only wholesale portfolios?

A lot of these deceptive portfolios with 1 premium while the rest are standards.

Edit: but with the notice hanging around that long, it's hard not to feel uneasy.

"Our team has recently added additional visibility to inform sellers if any of the background actions (such as clearing the cache for their recently updated domains) are still pending. However we are working on improving the notification, so it provides specific details about what exactly is pending. For now you can disregard this notification since it pertains to a routine process related to caching."

The improvements to the new logo generator are so significant that I'm updating many of my older designs.

They are better but they are off center.

Wild. The logos I'm getting are still subpar. I wonder if it's rolling out slowly account by account?

I received an email from Atom stating "The 'Link Opens' section will now show more detail regarding how many times the link was opened, including dates and times of when it was accessed."

Has anyone used the AtomPay link recently and can confirm if the tech is working properly now? (They said it won't work for older links - just new ones created in the past few days and going forward).

Are you testing with .com or other extensions?

Everything. Here is my most recent logo, created moments ago (it's a .io and starts with "o"). Nothing "significant" about it.

Strange, I am getting some good results even with other TLDs:

Although sometimes I'm having to get creative with a few of the prompts, depending on the domain.

My advice is try playing about with the text in the "Are there any specific themes the icon in the logo should represent?" and "Any additional context or industry" sections and see if it makes a difference for you.

Imo it gets a little more creative if you ask it to place the logo above the title text as it probably has a little bit more room to work with.
