Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

TLD strength of the top 5 gTLDs

.com 10
.org 9
.net 8
.now 7
.xyz 5

I would give .now an even higher score but W Atom :xf.cool:

Is this what you mean? All coms get 10 and so on...?

The .com, .org, .app, .tech, .ly, .me, com.au, co.uk, & .vc, I tested got a 10, .ai got a 9, .net got an 8, the .now got a 6, and .xyz & .co got a 7.
I tested with the same SLD across TLDs.

Mine are non existent.

So now the appraisal system progresses to estimated value instead of just showing it? This is what they do in Hollywood movies.:xf.smile:

After sedo ended partnership with atom, Now all our atom premium domains disappeared from sedo ( not available ) !!
So we have to list them back again by ourselves !! Adding txt or pointing nameserver to sedo and all this hustles !!

That would be wasted effort.

Premium listings on Atom are exclusive to our platform and therefore cannot be added to Sedo. You may still list them on Afternic and certain other qualifying ICANN-accredited registrars.

I'm fairly convinced that all the stats on Atom are fictitious. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to any of them. I get hundreds of "Direct Lander" visits for names that aren't using Atom landers.

If you edit the specific possible uses then they will get properly saved the first time. However, if you ever come back and modify any settings on the domain again and hit submit, there is a bug that will overwrite them with the broad possible uses instead. This means that after every edit, the specific uses need to be modified again.

But tbh, I'm not sure these are having much of an impact in search positions any more since Atom brought out AI keywords.

The above issues have now been fixed and Atom has removed the old submit button and replaced it with a footer bar which allows you to save when it detects any changes made.

Also, saving itself has been made a lot faster, so you don't have to wait 10 seconds after making changes before you can preview them.

Thanks once again for listening @Atom.com

I have a suggestion for the root words section - displaying the number of results for each keyword after they have been entered would be handy so that you can tell how popular a category is.

For example, something like:

I changed some domains to Make Offer yesterday. The landing page changed correctly (right away) but the price still appears if the name is searched for within Atom. Atom support told me today to "please allow 24-48 hours for the change to fully propagate." That seems like an awfully long time for a change to happen. Anyone else ever have to wait that long?

It seems the Domain Score has little correlation to the Brand Strength analysis.

This is a serious claim, and we would like to review the actual data. Can you please privately share the specific domains where youโ€™re seeing ongoing Direct Lander visits so we can review the raw logs?

We tried to look up your account (not certain it was the correct one), and the domains showing high Direct Lander counts appear to still be pointed to Atom nameservers and landing on WLM. You can check this in your traffic dashboard:

https://www.atom.com/dashboard/seller/domain-view-stats?days=7&sort=views

To clarify: โ€œDirect Landerโ€ reflects direct or organic visits to the Atom (or WLM) landing-page URL, not just DNS traffic. These visits can come from saved links, partner listings, bookmarks, or even ongoing Google traffic if the lander has already been indexed. They do not require the domain to be pointed to Atom. That said, seeing hundreds of ongoing visits would be unusual once nameservers are removed. If a domain is no longer pointing and youโ€™re still seeing ongoing traffic, click โ€œView Statsโ€ next to the domain (in the link above) for a daily breakdown. There should be a gradual decline; if not, weโ€™d like to review those examples.

If something looks off, weโ€™re glad to investigate. Visit counts require substantial infrastructure, tend to bring in a lot of false or low-quality visits, and donโ€™t correlate with sales - which is why we previously removed them. They were added back only after ongoing feedback from sellers. Weโ€™re happy to review the raw data - we just need the specific domain list.

With 20 and only 3 premium be prepared to wait a number of years is the quality is above average.

Yes the synchronised listings to Sedo have now ended as far as I can see. When?

@Atom.com was asked and did not bother to reply and give a date when this would happen.

I tested with the same SLD across TLDs.

I looked at "Donuts" and got the following results

.com 10
.App 9
.ly 9
.org 8
.net 8
.tech 8
.now 6
.xyz 6
I also tested the same SLD at first, it looks like the numbers move slightly for different words, but .com is always 10. .ai also seems to get a 9 every time, while I saw a .bot & .now with 9, 6 seems to be the norm...

Not sure how it works, but it doesn't appear to be very accurate, perhaps it calculates from TLD & SLD synergy, but it's clearly biased towards .com & .ai

It's pretty gimmicky, don't imagine it will matter to end users anyway.

This could be an explanation but this wasn't made clear in the post you made 4/5 pages back so apologies if that is the case. I will DM you with the list of names.

The chart below for 90 days, December 9 was the significant peak and highest platform discovery views number !! 12000 on one day !!
I was scratching my head thinking and digging to read and find conclusion !!
9 December was Tuesday, Next day Wednesday 10 December was US federal bank announcement for the interest rate, They decided to lower the rate by 0.25 percentage points !
So there could be a correlation between the domains market and interest rate of central bank !!? Then domain market reacts similar to shares/bonds & financial markets !? Lol So the investors were optimistic before the announcement and after got shocked and views dropped below 4000 !!

** If this is the case and since they say trend is your friend, I suggest to @Atom.com to show us the chart with Japanese candlesticks, To get the ability to find the support and resistant and to draw Fibonacci retracement, So we can follow the trend and avoid breakouts ! :xf.laugh:

Does Atoms new Ai discovery agents mean more sales ? I don't think so ??? , maybe it will help sell domains that their agents think are a good match.

The number of premium domains keeps growing , nearly 384000 as of now. I think unless you have really strong domains or by chance get favored by an Ai agent you are likely to see a continued downward spiral in your STR. Funny how a STR chart/graph has never been supplied.
