Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I've only been a member for a few months, but so far so good. It covers pretty much all of my main must-haves such as being on the FT network & Sedo MLS, bulk updates for larger portfolios, nameserver & dns record templates, decent domain filtering & sorting, etc.

The main issue I had was not being able to see what domains were successfully on the FT network, but in a recent update it now has its own table column on the main page which shows the status of each. Also you can pre-authorize FT for the names that are still in the 60-day lock.

I don't like having to wait 10 days to prefund my account via bank, but aside from this, no complaints at all so far.
Thanks for the info, much appreciated. Sounds like they've come along pretty well, and rectified some of the deficiencies in pretty good time. I think when I read about them a little while ago, there was a lack of bulk updates, so it's good to hear that is sorted.

@Atom.com

The new AI Selected Keywords dashboard is incredible.

Thank you for giving us visibility into how our names appear in search results.

Is this the same system that has been running behind the scenes until now, or is it a newly updated AI-driven method for generating search keywords?

Mine is showing this too atm. If it's site-wide, maybe they are making a few adjustments behind the scenes. Anyone else have this?
Same - mine as well

Not sure I understand the Ai selected keywords. I own the keyword "step" in the TLD of .now.

Atom's Ai says "Our AI agents have hand-picked this domain for priority placement in the following buyer searches. These rankings represent where your domain receives premium positioning and higher visibility."

@Atom.com your Ai has determined that the exact match keyword is only promoted as "Fair". Does that seem appropriate?

Sure most know this, but you can basically ignore the likes/hearts on any listing. It's not coded to limit to user / ip so you can add as many likes in incognito browser and it just keeps adding them. Bit of a rookie mistake imo.

I was referring to some of my names that now show on the first page or two.

But yes, itโ€™s still far from perfect.

Have you tried the AI Manual Review?

Funny how Atom puts those words together. ๐Ÿคฃ

First it was AI that can "handpick" things and now this... I think they need to choose their words a bit more carefully :xf.smile:

I wonder what they'd call a human doing the review though? A human-manual review? A manual-manual review?

Has anyone gotten the message "Incorrect authorization code" when submitting it in the Transfer Center? I copied and pasted the code exactly, but their system says it's incorrect. The transfer is to Atom's new registrar. I contacted support and they're looking into it. Thought I'd check here too.

UPDATE: As @Owl.name suggested, I requested a new authorization code and that seems to have worked.

How do I use/sign up for Atom's registrar?

That's not yet possible. Only when you sell a domain on Atom marketplace, it can be transferred to Atom registrar.

@NameGroove , thanks for the question.

Our AI agents look beyond simple SLD matches. They evaluate how strongly a domain aligns with real buyer search intent, which can be broader than just the literal keyword. That said, for several extensions, including .now, an exact SLD match like โ€œstepโ€ is still surfaced in the top section of the marketplace regardless of the AIโ€™s broader semantic rating. Here is how this particular domain appears when someone searches for "step".

To avoid any confusion, we've also made updates to the seller domain dashboard so when your domain matches a buyer keyword exactly, that ranking is now highlighted more clearly in the keywords section.

I bought 3 today via wholesale - and did not see any option to transfer to Atom's registrar. Is it only for the retail marketplace?

I don't know about that.

Hey guys, is Atom still good? I am selling these premium domains in their no reserve auction section, but they are going terrible, and the reserves are all met. Is Dynadot now better to list auctions? Or is the timing bad? Economy? No idea, I know the winners will get huge bargains like this, what do do, cannot cancel the auctions anymore.

I always put a reserve price. I don't list domains in no reserve auctions. That said, you do have 3 days left and your domains aren't doing bad. But, no, you probably won't get the retail prices or close to them, if that's what you're expecting.

this is the sort of question you want to ask before you list
