Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Yup, I can confirm. I once sold a LTO domain on Afternic before I knew about the policy. Atom didn't complain, but I didn't receive the bonus from Atom for selling on an external site.

Company files cybersquatting lawsuit, alleges Atom logo is similar to its own

Personally, I feel safer asking Atom's AI to generate "no icon" logos, even though my names stay far from real companies' ones.

Atom can give that as an option instead of Ai generated logos.

Let sellers choose a font, color and generate it. No need Ai for that.

The more of these I see the more fearful I am of AI generated logos.

Anyone one can file. Winning is another matter altogether.

Hi everyone, just wanted to clarify a few points. Logos on Atom listings can come from several sources : some are AI-generated, some are created by our marketplace designers, and others are uploaded directly by listing owners.

While this particular logo wasnโ€™t created by our AI or marketplace designers, we remain committed to advancing our AI responsibly and continuing to provide flexible options for sellers.

We appreciate everyoneโ€™s feedback and take matters like this seriously - transparency and trust are central to how we operate at Atom.

well yeah, it is similar to be fair. It's still live on the site too.

The real issue is companies filing UDRP lawsuits in order to get a domain name for free.

Could well be, and "brandable" marketplaces are opening up sellers to potential problems that need not exist. I mean seriously, that logo is hardly going to make or break a $500k+ domain sale. That domain should sell on it's own merits anyway.

I love how the seller has now increased the asking price by quarter of a million. Fair play ๐Ÿ˜

Are the browser integration appraisal and the website appraisal two separate programs?

If you're appraising your own domains, why doesn't the browser appraisal update your ATOM portfolio of the same name?

The browser appraisal is able to evaluate domain extensions the website doesn't.

The big issue with their case, imo, is their trademark is for the text "THALAMUS" and not for the logo.

The other major issue is if the domain was registered before the company was created, why does transfer of ownership change the registry date?

On some of my domains WHOis gives conflicting reports. Sometimes the domain shows when it was originally registered other times it shows when I purchased it.

e.g (fictional)

12345.com was registered in 1998.
Corporation 12345 was created in 2024.
I buy 12345.com in 2025.
Corporation 12345 claims I'm cybersquatting and trademark infringement.
Corporation 12345 never attempted to buy 12345.com .
Corporation 12345 goes to court AFTER the domain is purchased.

The big issue with their case, imo, is their trademark is for the text "THALAMUS" and not for the logo.

Too bad that is a dictionary word for part of the human brain, so their only chance is to spuriously challenge the logo.

And remember, the logo IS the 'text + brain', not just the brain.

Plus, as noted by silentg, this increasingly looks like a reengineered TM claim, as Thalamus GME changed their logo in March 2025 from this:

To this:

:unsure::unsure:

If the Atom logo was generated prior to March 2025, then the domain owner's lawyer is going to rip Thalamus GME a new one, and potentially get damages. Plus, this underhanded tactic (if true) certainly won't reflect well on the company.

@Atom

Why changing price for wholesale domains takes more than 24 hours to reflect in market ?
But changing price for premium/plus/standard domains reflects same time !!?

.
