Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

This stats NOT for same domains , different collection of domains with same extension , premiums pointed to atom and others pointed to spaceship .

It's extremely important where the NS are pointed to, as that is the prime source of lander visits.

The best way to test the data would be to look at domains that have the NS set to Afternic or Sedo, or some other marketplace. Then it's an apples to apples comparison.

Talking about stats, how is everyone's only important stat ? My ASTR is 1.66% , has been heading south lately. I don't have any official ASTR on BrandBucket but I calculate it be 3.75%.

0.26% so far apparently, but it should be 0.10% since only 1 Premium (and it was a direct lander sale) has sold, 0.2 would mean it's counting my standard sale too.

It's been 1 year since my first submission, recently hit 1K names.

I had high hopes for selling brandables on Atom. I'll give it another year or two, but so far it's been horrible.

Thanks for sharing. (Maybe it calculates the percentage based on the number of domains that you had when the domain was sold?)

Don't think so, it slowly goes down as more premiums were added.

Are these mostly handregs? If so, are they the same or similar quality to the ones you showcase daily on the "reg of the day" thread?

?

I ask because today I have a cumulative time spent on landers at 80m 57 with the top domain clocking in at 38+ minutes spent on the lander. What is there to do on the lander for 38 minutes? I've seen similar over the past weeks and months but nothing as high as 38 minutes.

Did you get any offer or did that sell?
Got one today with 1 hour avg time.

LOL, no. And its actually one of my worse domains IMO.

What did they do while viewing your name, eat dinner while discussing it for an hour? :-P

Most I post there are Premium approved, but that was only recent, the first half were mainly auction wins like the Premium I sold.

I don't see STRs going up on Atom, just a continual drop. They seem to do well for .ai and super premium .coms. The top 1% of domainers. Far too many domains for a brandable marketplace and too hard for buyers to navigate. I think at present addition rates 400,000 domains by Next Feb/March. Unfortunately the ๐ŸŽ has bolted. No reason why 500,000 wont be achieved in 18 months time. The only losers are us.

I think they will have to start a new marketplace called Premium + or something like that, that will be human curated or else face a big exodus within a year. They made the mistake of giving Ai an important job too early.

100% of mine are at atom NS and I've got a similar thing going on, the same group of 10 or so domains with little to no visits to the lander but many hundreds of "internal" visits and none of those domains corespond to the names in the other dashboard categories. OTH I have a one-word, dictionary word, .io with 2200+ visits since late May but it doesnt show up anywhere except the "repeat visits" category. No bites.... on any domains in 5 months since joining. Had names at Namepros NS and got real bites within a couple of weeks last year so I am contemplating going back there. May give it another month or two. In any case, I dont even look at the stats anymore.

Probably potential buyer had a round table conference with his board of directors. They all enjoyed looking at my domain for an hour before falling asleep ๐Ÿ˜‚. Hope they will wake up and click the buy button.

Thanks, not many brave enough to publish their stats. The 0.26 % is an annualised rate. So if you have 100 domains and they are on Atom for an average period of 6 months, then you sell a domain and instead of a 1% str the annualised is 2% as your domains have only had 6 months exposure.

I just did a quick check of your latest 3 or 4 regs of the day. I think you may be pricing too high as they are all listed for well over $5k.

Is the one hour visit ONE visitor or is it multiple visitors accumulating to one hour of visit time? If its the former then I would think they should do their best to track that visitor down and attempt to get their intent, hopefully close the deal... OR. give you the details that they know about the visitor and let you (us) contact them.

They have gone crazy on pricing $5K is the new $2k. I guess 30% of $5k seems nicer

Yeah, and the more domains you have the pricier you can go. I suppose King can go very high given the size of his folio. But pricing fresh handregs this high can dramatically influence the STR IMO.

Mine are bulk heavy two-word (that make sense) and many over 20 years old or approaching 20. Also a LOT of 5-letter and a handful of what I'd call "brandable".
I have zero sales in 5 months which is a short time but if I compare it to namepros landers or afternic landers I did get bites in the same time-frame..
54.89% porfolio popularity, whatever that means. :)
0% STR so far.
The average Time To Sell (TTS) on the site is 79 weeks so there is still a long way from 5 months... So there's that.

I am patient, obviously holding names 2+ decades, but what I can do is compare from here to other marketplaces.

Its one visitor. Didnt see this name earlier. If its counting multiple visitors and other visitors had just 3 or 5 mins time spent, then this latest one had spent around 1.5 to 2 hours, as its showing the average time of all visits.
Its a premium listed domain. So i am not going to get any visitor info i guess. I would just wait n see.

Exactly and other than checking the Daily Visits just look at overall trends, I don't worry about it because you don't have any effect on the outcome.

So there is no reason to deep-dive on any of this data and you'd be further ahead consulting a Ouija board to predict when your next sale will occur.

You are correct: life is short. I now just check the daily visits from the export csv against yesterday and past week, etc.

I just wish they'd filter out my own views. I did a lot of lander checking today and now they're showing up in the Repeat Visits & Offers Breakdown by Domain page. Ugh.
