Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

For the comps, we should be able to select which domains we'd like to include.

In my case, I got an offer on a .now and it shows .com domains instead of showing only the .now sales. The .com are irrelevant.

You should also configure it so that it only shows that exact extension and SLD when the domain is not a .com.

Other than that, I am very pleased with the make an offer system, it scored me my first sale on Atom. The latest update provides useful information and features.

I see there has been another update to the Offer Center, and the text is getting smaller while the width or span gets longer.

Instead of the overly-long "Negotiation - Buyer Not Verified" why not use "Negotiation - Unverified" instead? That would save you a few characters and still say the same thing.

The "Repeat Views (Last 7 Days)" column is also a huge offender, but not sure what to do there. Maybe a Shorter form or lose the "Last" part.

Also, it took me a bit to figure out where the "Offer Details" link was in the Offer Center and to me, the "View Offer Details" and "Go To Domain Landing Page" links should be reversed (both in link and placement) to what we see in the My Domain Listings section and in other areas.

Domain Name (link to Domain Details) Square Graphic with Arrow (Open Domain Landing Page).

@Atom

P.S. Unrelated to the above, I am still crossing my fingers that we'll get the ability to adjust our Default Minimum Offer at a per-domain level. ๐Ÿคž

When looking at a list of our names, is there an "At a Glance" way to see which names do not yet have a logo?

Nevermind... just found it! ๐Ÿ™‚

When creating logos with the AI thing, is there a way to get credit for images that are "wrong", like when a letter is missing or extra letters are added? I've tried re-doing the image (before accepting the bad one) but it still eats another credit -- and in many cases just gives me the exact same image. Anyone know how to get credit for these images that we don't use?

this was discussed long ago. Ai images are in "beta" and they used to offer credits (well up to 4 tries) but no longer do.

Damn. Well *that* sucks. I think I'll give ChatGPT a try. I'd like something with a bit more control.

yea, for some reason the Ai doesn't like certain names. No matter how many attempts I make, it gets those wrong. Ah well, Ai isn't perfect yet.

@Atom.com two things I notice about the Ai logos:
1- they are smaller than the designer ones.
2- The word parts section could be enhanced. I have words I want all as one (so one color). Ai breaks them into 2 words and when I add the exact word in just the "first part" it won't allow, saying it doesn't match. it does match, I'm just placing the whole word into the first part so the Ai understands this is all one word and should receive all one color.

Can these issues be fixed?

Also, @Atom.com can you please train the Ai to never add Registered TM symbols?

This is a great addition. Sadly, I've seen it show "listed" for domains that expired some time ago. So manual review is required regardless

Well, I tried using ChatGPT on some of the "problem names" and it did a great job. Maybe not perfect, but pretty darn good! Such a pleasure being able to re-generate a logo with specific instructions, rather than just re-generate and hope for the best. Unfortunately it only allows a small amount of use each day unless you pay for the Premium ChatGPT... but the point is that using Ai for logos CAN be a much better experience than what we're seeing currently on Atom.

Yes! Why in the world does it do that ??

Jeez, they actually did this and updated the Offer Center.

This makes things a lot easier for me, as now I just click on the Domain Name, and I probably wasn't the only one asking for it.

Either way, thanks @Atom.com

It may have happened to me. Have a domain thatโ€™s been listed on Afternic for a while with not much traffic.

Moved this name to my new Atom account and listed their DNS last week. Listed it on plus and added photo and logo. Set price just under AN price with BN, lease to own and make offer. Saturday I got an offer from AN and accepted. Still not sure it sold, but is out of my GD account so assuming it has. Broker was securing funds yesterday.

I have to think someone found it on Atom and then went to AN to make an offer. I also assume Iโ€™ll be paying the 30% commission to AN if it has sold. Donโ€™t like paying the 30%, but Iโ€™ll take it.

I only moved 4% to Atom, but will be adding more. Love the AI logos. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 tries but Iโ€™m still learning. I can get a decent AI photo in 2-3 tries.

While Iโ€™m at it, with this heat there needs to be an Atom Primary Category for Swimming Pool and also swimming pool listed as possible use category.

If you received an offer at AN, you should have changed the name servers to Afternic's. You would have saved 15% off their fees.

I received the offer thru Afternic broker. I think it's too late at that point.

I had an offer and a sale last month at AN. The broker told me to change the name servers before ending the negotiations and completing the sale.

Congrats. Loose lips sink ships, and the countdown has now started to that loophole being taken away.
