Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

I am part of Atom's Trusted Seller Program and should therefore be able to bypass domain verification, but it happens all the time that I get an email saying that the name has been uploaded by someone else and I have to go through a verification process.

@Atom Please make that program work as promised.

Personally, whether it's an honest mistake (typo) or someone intentionally doing it, I'd prefer not to have domains removed from my account without verification. It's different if they're not in another user's account. Just chat with support and upload a screenshot of the domain in your registrar account to get them moved to your Atom account.

Even if you don't personally like their TSP, it doesn't make sense to have a program that doesn't work - I think it is a great program for there is to many lazy domainers who drop their names without removing the name from all the sites they have listed them on - The last time I ran into the problem I contacted support and it took them 30 minutes, a screenshot and a lot of back and forth chat before I could list the name and I don't want to spend that much time every time I run into the problem.

Trusted Seller status only bypasses the verification if the domain is not already listed, but if it's listed in another account, you still require the DNS TXT Code to be present and accounted for.

Otherwise you get cases like Sedo used to have, where Top Sellers were given carte blanche to list anything, and domains would continually get deleted from my account. A lot of people got very angry about this, so Sedo now requires a broker to confirm any 'already listed' domains before moving them to a new account.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Why are you not using your DNS Text verification code? Add the code, wait for it to propagate, then list the domain. Done.

Trusted Seller was never meant to allow absolute, totalitarian control over the Atom system, and it functions to give some customers an easier time of listing domains. Remember, Atom usually requires 100% of domains to be authorized, no matter if they are already listed or not and it works seamlessly in 99.X% of cases.

The other 0.X% you still need to authorize.

If I am verifying names registered with Spaceship their DNS Text verification code never gets confirmed by Atom. Am I the only one?

Like @Name2go I've had a lot of problems with verification via DNS Text - Maybe Atom could make it easier by enable verification via an ns.3 like Afternic do (I've never had a problem with that method).

I've never had a problem with any of my domains being verified at Atom, but I will note that sometimes this process can take a .... very ... long ... time ... to ... complete ... sometimes days if the demand is high.

Hi, can we get the average daily views for each published domain, both standard and premiums? @Atom.com

It would be helpful to have this statistics.

If you can even highlight if those are views from marketplace search or external search, even better.

Thank you

Still unreachable for me. Not sure why. Firefox and Chrome give the same error. Brave gives a fishing warning then the error.

OK here...Firefox

Good here.

Something I'm thinking about. I'm sure some of you who have been with Atom for a while have thoughts on this.

So, my best names are asked by AI to uplist to premium. If I'm getting traffic on Plus, is it really worth uplisting to premium and pay 30% commission compared to 15% commission on Plus? I'm sure listing on Premium increases our chances of finding a buyer, but by how much?

Not in my opinion. But it's only an opinion, I have no data to back it up.
