Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

That's an impressive number of shortlists. You should get a sale soon. How long have you listed them?

Below is my SH stats. My average listing time is less than 1 year because 9 of the 16 listed names was added in the last 3 months.

I had been inactive on squadhelp (and other brandable marketplaces) after sailz were so down...

But two days ago, I'd received an email stating my domain had sold via wholesale! Was kinda disappointed because I was in "hodling" mode for this year... forgot i had listed a few wholesale price. It sold for $100

So i immediately did some 23% possible fee calculations...

...but in the end i was super surprised when SH paid out the FULL $100 to my PayPal like 2 days later! That's even better than Dan or buying directly through nP without an intermediary... because both those methods cause some kind of commission / PayPal fees.

THIS WAS LEGIT FEELESS!

hurray huzzah to SH! Might start listing there again lol idk!

I'm still trying to figure out how the voting system works.

I recently had a few domains accepted as premium. -- though, I didn't receive a ๐ŸคฒFive of more favorites notification for any of the domains accepted.

The one domain of this recent batch that had received 5 favorites (I think it was 5/12)

was NOT accepted for a premium listing.

Really like the domain and yes it is disappointing to see it rejected. If we go by voting, it should be auto accepted. @GrantP something broke in review system?

Thanks for tagging @GrantP .

I assume the rejected decision came from an internal review. So apparently internal reviews trump crowd voting? If so, I don't understand why some domains get auto-rejected at 3/13, and don't equally receive the opportunity to be trumped by an internal review?

Ha.

Not sure if added information changes this.

But I believe I was inaccurate in my initial post. As one of the domains accepted received 5 early favorites.

Correction.

If I recall correctly, one of the domains that was recently accepted [T i d a l R u s h.com] received 5 or more favorites.

Though, when I clicked the "alert" bell (top right) I didn't see the ๐ŸคฒFive of more favorites notification for T i d a l R u s h. As I did for C o i n S c r o l l. This is likely because

<<As just confirmed this with the C o i n S c r o l l alert, the ๐ŸคฒFive of more favorites notification alert disappears from the list once you click/open the alert>>

Two other domains which were accepted, that I don't recall seeing a ๐ŸคฒFive of more favorites notification alert for, both contained the keyword 'Duck': F i n a n c e D u c k and A n s w e r D u c k.

Today I was browsing SH recently sold names and saw this name "CIever / Invest / com" sold for $1,599 And my first thought was that why would such name sell for this low? after checking the whois it turns out the second letter of the first word to be an "i" instead of an "L" so it's ciever not clever. I'm not sure if that already means something, but that would be funny if the buyer was thinking he got a good deal:xf.grin::xf.grin:

This is actually terrible. If SH is allowing folks to do this, itโ€™s just really poor taste at best and an outright scam at worst. Looking at the landing/sale page for that domain it seems like everything about it makes you believe you are buying CLEVERINVEST. This is a big red flag for me.

If I submitted two names together, will they appear to the reviewer together "against each other" to pick one from them or will they never be together?

Yeah man, I agree, I know that SH has great customer service and the buyer is going to get a refund. but why would they let such a misleading name to be published on their platform?

This has happened before on Squadhelp, iotion.com being misbranded as Lotion.com, was bought by a NP member.

If a domain receives 5+ votes, it is highly likely that it will be accepted. I will share this with the marketplace team to see if there was a specific issue. I do know that we are not very bullish on "coin" names but it is possible it could have been rejected due to a human error.

Regarding the Auto Rejection, we have made several changes to our algorithm, and in several cases names go through another round of manual review by the internal team even if they received low number of votes.

This was an unfortunate situation and we already handled it with the buyer immediately after the purchase. We will never knowingly sell such domain names which are clearly misleading. Unfortunately the spelling error was not detected at the time of approval.

The names are shown randomly. Since at any given time, we have several hundred pending submissions, the chances of the two names appearing together are extremely low.

Thanks for the feedback.

C o i n S c r o l l.com was accepted as a premium domain earlier today (y) without a user initiated appeal

If I recall correctly, H a c k N C o d e.com also received 5+ favorites, but was rejected for premium.

Most importantly, while on the subject of bullish / not very bullish keywords, is there any place where we can find an updated list of bullish keywords? If not, can you work on providing domainers with updated (maybe quarterly?) keywords or any additional insight? This sort of thing will greatly help with our margins, in addition, to helping us help you provide your buyers with a fuller inventory.
