Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Thanks for pointing out this new feature.

Interesting, in a good way.

@Atom you are retiring the old version BEFORE your new version is ready.

For example
You show price discrepancies that are untrue (stating Afternic is not priced right). A very helpful feature. However, it is priced right (and even if it wasn't you only allow a link that clicks to Afternic to fix). There is no "I have resolved the issue" button like there is on the old view. The new view needs that button so I can inform the system it's fixed or correct.

Note the price on Afternic was updated on Dec 23 (it is now Dec 26). So the system hasn't yet identified the Afternic update in >72 hours. But this error is from Dec 26. That is why the button is required - to force it to check more quickly.

Not sure the "haste" to retire a platform that works when the newer version does not. Keep the old platform live until all the bugs are corrected

@Atom.com we used to be able to filter rejected premium names. I do not see that option on the new view. Is there a way to sort by names that were rejected for premium by date?

On the flip side, could this be to their detriment?

A lower-priced name on Afternic may not get flagged for several days, and it could sell during that window.

I increased the prices of all my premium domains three days ago. But if someone discovers them via my public profile or via keyword search (so no direct type-in), they still see the old prices, the ones in the image below.

Only if someone clicks on a domain do they see the new prices. For a normal user this may seem suspicious, they could think the price was increased instantly because of their interest in the domain. Atom's internal cache really needs to be refreshed hourly, because 3 days for a proper price update is way too long.

Does this clear cache button help?

Is anyone having issues with logging into their ATOM account?

Posted a domain for sale on WebHostingTalk.com
Only stated the name, no link.
Landing page is on Atom
Got this message from WHT Community Leader:
my firewall claims it's a phishing site attempting to trick visitors into supplying logins. Why is that?
Does anyone know why this would happen?

Thanks

@Atom.com This handle has stopped working in your new UI:

This prevents domains from being verified when they are added. Also, these same domains aren't added with the others so they don't even show when using the Pending Verification filter.

What happened to checkout links generation? It is not possible to create a checkout link currently. Will they come back?

Instead there is a dubious interface to create a "button" where the price is being stored on frontend, so anyone who knows how to use the browser console can just change the price to $1 and proceed to checkout like that...

Code:
<button class="pay-with-atom large-button"
                            data-domain-name="example.com"
                            data-domain-price="10000"
                            data-token="4322489dsdj348998"
                            data-installments=""
                            data-down-payment=""
                            data-host-name="https://www.atom.com" >
                            <span>Buy With</span>
                            <img src="https://www.atom.com/assets/pay.png" alt="Atom Logo">
                        </button>
I use Atom Pay for my landers, it's not an issue, Atom detects the price mismatch.

Probably they added this fix since then, whichi is a good thing. Still waiting for the return of normal checkout links generation.

With the Chrome extension the figures here are credits per day but @Atom.com are currently charging 2 credits
per appraisal.

Interesting, in a good way.

That same error popped up on my account also. Except in my case, that name is not listed on Afternic...at least not by me, lol.

Is there any recent data on how Minimal Landers perform vs. traditional, full landers on brandables?

I can't imagine there would be a lot of difference. The full landers are full of (IMO) useless fluff for most names, and you have to scroll down to see most of the extra stuff. And honestly, the AI description might actually dissuade a potential buyer if it completely misses the mark of their intended use. So I tend to use the minimal landers...except certain cases.

For some brandables that are pronounceable but not actually words, I use the full lander to take advantage of the audio thing that pronounces the name. That little thing can be a tedious to get the system to pronounce the name "correctly", but I think it helps in some cases.

$149 to register free accounts on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram?
And it may not even be an exact match for the brand?

Did Atom poach the wrong people from GoDaddy?
What is Twitter ?

I left after 6 months, gut feeling it's smoke and mirrors for 99% of investors. Anyone ever had a standard listing sale btw? I hardly doubt.
Yes. I have had 2 standard listing sales this year. Both were .ai names.
