Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Hello @Atom.com

The popup with the allowed price range is hardly readable for the first premium domain in the overview.

Under the new interface is there still a Sell In Afternic option? I can't find it. @Atom.com

Or as long as a coin was used in submission, are names automatically eligible now?

PS I am able to access it under Old View, and did that, but my understanding is that is going away soon.

thanks for raising this, it looks like if you use multiple names as a drop down, the issue persist only for the first name on the list or if you search for that one particular name

@Atom.com This is still unresolved.

I should add that the "Purchase AI Tokens" button had stopped working from the image generation screen a couple of days ago. One quick convo with support, they replicated the problem and it was fixed within 24 hours.

Bravo atom ✅.

Yes, this is what happens when you prioritise good engineering over design, or whatever else Spaceship is prioritising right now. It still takes an email to their support to fix SSL not working on many new domains.

Tried their auctions for first time today. If someone bids in last few minutes it extends the auction 1 hour. Very tedious. There wasn't even anything all that great but a couple were worth a tentative bid. But better things to do than watch that all day long.

Some other things I am not impressed with, the countdown is not in real time, and despite their stance on shill bidding its probably way too easy to play the system.

Is there any recent data on how Minimal Landers perform vs. traditional, full landers on brandables?

I would like the above info as well.

Also @Atom.com - is there any data on whether names that have Ai generated logos sell better, worse, or the same as names with designer created logos?

As usual we see changes in Daily Visits & Discovery Overview by going up or down .
BUT
since one month I see no changes in below stats : Strong buyers interest / high visibility in search/ landers with above average time spent !! I feel like the stats/info freeze !! And i remember it wasn't like this before !!

I just tried the "new" domain listing export and I see that visits are not in the file. Does anyone know why not?

Visits (views) is traffic.

Traffic is what drives all online and even off-line business.

If you were to go and do due diligence to purchase a physical retail store one of the first questions asked is. "how much car and foot traffic passes by and into this store?" You'd want to see comparisons YOY, for holidays, seasonal, etc. For car traffic you would likely need to purchase this data, its valuable information.

Domains are not any different. Traffic (visits, views, name it what you wish) is the KING metric. I've had buyers ask me to provide those statistics.

Its a core, organic, statistic.

I can see it on the dashboard but I cant sort by it.

To get this into a file for my own purposes I'd have to scrape or copy/paste which is extra time consuming and frustrating.

At the very least the new file export should be exactly like the old file export and allow us to choose which metrics we wish to download.

@Atom.com can you please add "views" to the new domain listing export, among other metrics? If not, I'd love to know why not. Thanks!!

What happened to checkout links generation? It is not possible to create a checkout link currently. Will they come back?

Instead there is a dubious interface to create a "button" where the price is being stored on frontend, so anyone who knows how to use the browser console can just change the price to $1 and proceed to checkout like that...

Code:
<button class="pay-with-atom large-button"
                            data-domain-name="example.com"
                            data-domain-price="10000"
                            data-token="4322489dsdj348998"
                            data-installments=""
                            data-down-payment=""
                            data-host-name="https://www.atom.com" >
                            <span>Buy With</span>

Have you confirmed this with a payment? They likely are doing some server-side checking, but then with the incompetence I discovered from them yesterday using fonts they're not licensed for it wouldn't surprise me: https://www.namepros.com/threads/atoms-wlm-white-label-marketplace-thread.1335299/page-3#posts.

It does open a form for your contact details to initiate purchase with whatever price was put there. I didn't try to fill the form to proceed further though.

I doubt there is "server-side checking", human checking at some stage – probably. The server has to have a reference to check against, and whatever you put as a value when you generate the button code doesn't seem to be saved anywhere in the dashboard.

But even if there was server-side checking, there is no point to have the price in the script code at all (the button code itself does not show the price), it should be pulled from the server.
