Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

When I add a domain name that was previously listed under another account to my own account, all the information that the previous person specified, such as the logo, keywords, description etc., also comes with it.

I think all data should be completely reset when the domain name changes hands.

@Atom.com

This even happens when you delist one of your own names, and then relist it later.

I actually find this "keeping" a helpful, not harmful feature. In cases where I want to remove that data, it's easy enough. In cases where I wanted the data to repopulate, it would be impossible if it didn't carry.

Well, for me removing everything takes unnecessary time and effort.

But then for those who delist and relist it will require unnecessary time and effort.

Perhaps there can be a "checkbox" or something similar to say (carry over info or start anew)

Delisting and relisting happen in the same account.

Checking the user ID while moving the domain name to another account will solve the problem.

Is there a way to search standard listings?
I'm not sure, but I think my standard listings are direct type-in, or SEDO network searches.

I did a must include search, my domain name didn't come up.
I know ATOM states standard listings aren't advertised, but that shouldn't exclude them from a search.

There is one side benefit to the info carrying over. Since Atom removed the ability to see if a name was previously rejected, when you see data prefill, you at least know the name was previously on Atom (sometimes it isn't listed in Wayback) and thus you may have a hint as to whether it was previously rejected.

However, I do ultimately agree - if they can carve out via User ID the difference between a relist/delist by the same user vs a drop vs a wholesale purchase then they could ask the Seller if they want to keep or discard said info

Would be nice if we could see marketplace vs direct views like brandpa.

Hello,

I've just made a try of atom's landers and made some sales.
It seems it's a problem for atom sharing buyer's details such as address, name, vat number.
I need these informations for tax remitting, accounting and in case of tax control.
I adk the support for that but no answer for the moment.
Could you confirm they provide that informations or they do not ?

When I go to my WLM (White Label Marketplace), there is a section called Popular Domain Names - and a list of names show up in table form (4 across 5 down). Can I customize what names show here, and also customize the name of this section (different than Popular Domain Names)?

The list of names in this section seems to correspond to the domain name order when I hit Dashboard / Standard Listings. I tried re-sorting the names, but it doesn't "stick" and carry forward to the WLM names listed under Popular Domain Names

I'm having an issue with Atom. On all names that are set to Make An Offer...

No matter what I choose in the settings under "Make an Offer Thresholds" (either "Set a Minimum offer amount as a percentage of selling price" or "Set a Fixed Minimum Offer for the entire portfolio") it doesn't work. It seems to be stuck on 70%. No other percentage works, and no other fixed $ amount works. They are all 70%.

This means that if the name is priced at $1,000 ... the minimum offer MUST be higher than $700. If the name does NOT have a price, the minimum offer can be ANY amount.

Anyone else having this issue?

I have the 2nd option checked, with a value in the box set to 5000 (see picture)

I noticed the Atom Caching of pages means your changes could take a while to show up. To speed up the process, under White Label Marketplace there is a CLEAR CACHE button -- which seems to clear out everything across all of my domain names. It speeds up the changes going live.

Afternic should be used for BIN only. Their brokers are absurd. I've been trying to buy a 4 figure name for mos. I respond with paragraphs and offers. They say "I'll check with the seller". Weeks later I get a "are you still interested email". This happens every month. As a buyer, I'm frustrated beyond words. Do NOT use Afternic for anything other than BIN.
Agreed.

Example. Had two inquiries on a xx,xxx name in 2 days. Two different brokers assigned. Completely different response mechanism in terms of response time, number of responses, and days between responses.

On another note. I have gotten some offers on Afternic/GD names that I clearly have set to BIN. How is that even possible?

It's been several days now. Atom seems to have an issue with caching.

Thanks, I'll try that. But we shouldn't have to do that every time. But the way, I reported this issue to Atom support yesterday but it's still not fixed.

Huh?
We’re excited to introduce Atom’s new Trusted Seller Program—and you’re among the first to be approved!

As a Trusted Seller, you can now bypass domain verification entirely. Simply upload your domains, and ownership will be automatically verified—no more adding TXT records or going through manual verification steps.

This is just the beginning! We’ll be adding more benefits to the Trusted Seller Program in the future. As long as your account remains in good standing, you’ll continue to enjoy this exclusive status.

Thanks for being a part of Atom. We’re looking forward to seeing more of your domains in the marketplace!
Great, but what if another "trusted seller" starts listing my domains? I think it's a bad idea, do not remove ownership verification! @Atom.com

Great, but what if another "trusted seller" starts listing my domains?

Then they should be immediately booted out of the program.

I've had this happen at Sedo a LOT - I go to my account and a few domains have been deleted (and without notice) and I have to complain to support and re-authorize them. A few weeks or months later, they've been deleted again as the same Trusted Seller keeps trying to claw them back, all without any repercussions.

It's always "Oooops, the seller made a mistake" over and over and over. >:(

If Atom wants to create a program like this, it needs to have severe consequences for those who go around stealing Atom domain listings that don't belong to them (on purpose or through user error), thus forcing honest users to waste time and effort getting their already-authorized listings back.

What are the scenarios of this program? What if Trusted Seller A has a pile of domains he bought from Trusted Seller B, who uses old records to upload domains to Atom. Are all those domains now owned and verified by Trusted Seller A automatically moved to Trusted Seller B? And what if Trusted Seller A reloads all those domains in response? What if there are active leads and negotiations tied to these verified domains?

This is kind of a Pandora's Box and you need to have all the answers before proceeding.

There also needs to be some kind of notification that a domain has been removed from your account and moved to another, as otherwise many will go unnoticed and at some point there will be fraudulent payments/fast transfers going through that will give Atom a black eye.

Zero Tolerance, be it listing thieves or poor record-keeping nimrods. "Ooops, I made a boo boo" is not a valid excuse.

Or just don't remove the TXT verification at all, simple. @Atom.com

I agree, but Atom is clearly trying to attract the major domain investors.

For me, having to verify everything at Atom was one of their selling points. It felt safe and I didn't have to worry about "domain listing thieves" taking away my Atom listings by abusing their "Trusted" status, like I have experienced at Sedo and other marketplaces.

Plus, Atom buyers know that the listing has actually been validated, as opposed to Afternic, where fast-transfer fraudsters and payment refunds are a daily part of life. That level of buyer security is now gone.

I really hope this plan is more about getting unlisted domains fast-tracked to Atom, rather than allowing a carte blanche to raid already-verified listings from other people's accounts (a la Sedo), either through malice or stupidity.

I agree with the prevailing sentiment. While being recognized as a "trusted seller" is gratifying, the integrity of the listings holds such importance that this change feels unsettling.

Thanks @Charybdis and @DomainRecap

I received the Trusted Seller email. What is interesting is that their support team have no idea what this is. I asked in chat and I am told to wait then now I am told they will get more information about it.
