Atom / Atom.com - Marketplace (formerly Squadhelp)

Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

Basically yes, for popular terms.

Agreed. What you want to do, if the name is Standard, is be in less popular categories. So no health, home, ai, etc. But, perhaps you have a name for a fireplace company or something niche. It should pop right up on the first page below the handful of appropriate premiums.

These blocks need to be aligned, they are pixels off.

My mid-Sept domain appeal just cleared (it was approved). So Atom is running ~104 days to review domain appeals at the moment.

Just an fyi - Atom is catching up on appeals - just got back appeals from mid-late Nov. So they are ~30 day backlog now. Good to see them clearing the backlog.

I'm at 8 approvals and 4 denials (on appeal) overall which matches my overall coin acceptance rate. Looking at the 4 denials, I think there is only one (a .ai) I am surprised by. Process is slow - but it works (imo).

If I have 250 shortlists for a premium name, will everyone who has shortlisted the name be notified of any changes regarding its details (Price and Installments)?

You need to fix this "Ends in" & "Ends in Today"

Maybe this has been discussed but I wanted to know more about these "root" words. So lets say I have a name like Tiger.com. Would I want to target the animal and perhaps business or? I just want to make sure I'm doing this correctly. Do our domains come up if they don't use the root word? How does the domain come up when a buyer is searching for a possible domain? If this has been discussed my apologies but I didn't want to go through 191 pages to find it. Thanks for any reply on this matter.

I've checked the payment methods available for different types of listings and price ranges, as there doesnโ€™t seem to be a page listing them anywhere.

Premium listing up to $25,000

Premium listing over $25,000

Standard listing up to $5,000

Standard listing over $5,000

While itโ€™s understandable to limit credit card payments to reduce chargebacks, why does this restriction go hand-in-hand with BitPay, and why is it capped at $5,000 for standard listings? On Dan.com, buyers could purchase up to $50,000 using BitPay, and on Dynadot.com the limit is currently $100,000.

Non-immediate payments give buyers more time to second-guess their purchase, which means less sales for everyone. @Atom.com could you reconsider these limits, especially the $5,000 credit card cap for standard listings and the BitPay limit across all listings?

@Atom.com is it not possible to instruct the AI logo software to follow the word split that the user has specified with CamelCase for the name?

I wrote the name with logos given below as SequencerOne.com, i.e. the word split should be Sequencer and One.

I tried every prompt possible to instruct it to break the word that way. These are the first four logos it designed. One it just left out 2 letters, Two it broke into Sequence and Rone, contrary to my specification (and AFAIK rone is not a word). The next it spelled correctly, but just ran the letters all together with no capitalization or color change in right place to separate words as I specified. The one on right is back to the rone split.

It does this kind of error, for different words, over and over again. It needs to be improved. If it is not smart enough to read Camel Case, could the prompt box have an input for how the user wants to split the name please?

Sometimes, the AI logo does produce nice results. But surely it can be improved to actually divide words as the user specifies, and hopefully not too often make mistakes like leaving out letters.

Thank you in advance, and Happy New Year!

Bob
We appreciate your feedback! Over the weekend, we made several updates to the AI Logo Generation tool, including a new option to customize word splitting. While the AI continues to improve and may occasionally struggle with CamelCase, it is now more effective at using colors to separate words and enhance readability. Additionally, the generated logos are now much more dynamic, compared to the previously minimalistic style used for most designs.

Can you share examples?

I stopped buying logo credits because it was such a waste of money. It would be nice to start adding logos again

Root words play a critical role in helping our AI understand the core components of a name, enhancing its ability to recommend relevant options to potential customers. This significantly improves the discoverability of your domain names.

The good news is that most root words are now automatically identified by our AI, so you donโ€™t need to manually assign them for every domain. However, itโ€™s always a good idea to double-check the AIโ€™s suggestions and make updates when it makes sense to do so.

While assigning root words may not be essential for single word domains, it can be very helpful for more complex domains such as blends or multi word domains. For example:

The name Groupon is derived from the words Group and Coupon. While our search technology might easily identify "Group," it might miss "Coupon" unless explicitly added.

Here are some more guidelines which we have previously shared in our help articles:

Principles for Adding Root Words

  1. List the Root Words Clearly
    • For names like Instagram, the root words are straightforward: Instant and Telegram.
  2. Include Minor Variations
    • You can add closely related terms to enrich the algorithm's understanding. For Groupon, you might add Discount as a third root word, given its similarity to "Coupon."
  3. Ensure Logical Alignment
    • Root words must closely align with the nameโ€™s meaning or industry. Avoid keyword stuffing, as it can mislead customers and reduce relevance.

Examples

MoneyPact

  • Root Words:
    1. Money
    2. Pact
    3. (Optional) Finance โ€“ as it aligns with agreements often linked to money and business.

Bellavena

  • Root Words:
    1. Bella (Italian for beautiful)
    2. Belle (French for beauty)
    3. (Optional) Beautiful or Beauty โ€“ derived from the essence of "Bella."

CureFox

  • Root Words:
    1. Cure
    2. Fox
    3. (Optional) Intelligent or Clever โ€“ symbolizing the traits often associated with foxes.
Hope this is helpful

I asked for examples of logos that were (as you said) more dynamic than before and that used color to differentiate words. I'm looking for an excuse to generate more logos with Atom.

Here are the examples you provided:

Or maybe this wasn't meant to answer my question? It's only been 6 hours, so who knows?

Speaking of GoDaddy, with an answer (or avoidance) like that you are showing you don't care much.

Take a deep breath. They replied with an answer to another poster and quoted that post in their answer. It is clear they didn't respond to you (yet). Further, since they just updated their AI logo maker - it is unlikely the sellers even know about it - let alone recreated logos for the examples they gave.

I decided to try their logo maker for a long name (which previously almost always was generated incorrectly).

it did not get the CamelCase correct (as Atom mentioned it may still have problems in this regard). But it did correctly get the coloring and split (which is a definite improvement). I don't find this logo particularly dynamic (compared to the older ones) but it surely isn't awful.

I do wonder why CamelCase is so hard for Ai? Seems to me - since i type it exactly how I want it - Ai should be able to follow this hard coded response.
