Hi,

It looks like the .tv aftermarket is slowly growing with at least a handful of .tv's always on Sedo Auction and steady flow of sales mentioned every week, what i was wondering is who is buying now??

Over the past 6 - 12 Months many of the aftermarket .tv sales were NP .tv forum members snapping us names as long term investments or for development plans but is that wave all over now and are the recent sales to 'end users'??

I know many of you will say "I dont care who is buying" but i think it is important to know if the market would be virtually non existent if us with the .tv addictions were not involved.

is the whole .tv market just us guys selling domains to each other or is there new domainers, investors , companies, partnerships getting involved in buying .tv's??

Please give your thoughts (hope i explained things well :-/ )

** My experience is that i done all my aftermarket buying a few months ago when the prices were not too bad and now i concentrate on development. I would like to think many of the established members of this forum have done similar to me and this would mean there is a whole new group of .tv buyers who are keeping Sedo busy and bidding regularly on a lot of our .tv's. **

Cheers,
Ronnie

I only buy if it is something I see an immeadiate and needed dev plan for. And that is pretty rare. The last one I bought was last week, for $75, and I think it was a bargain.

Aside from that, it has been a few weeks.

I am actively selling as much as I can to enhance my devs. Go buy some.

I do buy and sell depending on what I like to develop , to hold or to sell.

on 10/29 i made a post about numbers and ran "site:ask.tv" and there were just over 19 million tv pags in google-
today there is 20,400,000.00

now do the same for mobi: 5,330,000.00 pages

now, my point with this is, mobi has taken steps, like the sedo auction, to infuse life into the extension. tv has nott. but yet, look at the numbers.

(disclaimer- this is NOT a knock mobi statement but an observation)

this is what i think. tv, all by itself, it slowly gaining steady, sturdy steam and ground. yes we bought up a lot of names but, i believe over time they would have gone anyway, we just got there first.

20 million tv pages- that is NOT all us! the number of tv sites on google go on and on- and it is not us.

so, that tells me there IS a whole world of tv people out there who dont even know this forum exists.

as the names they buy dwindle, and this process takes time, they will begin to search out our names folks. the pool for them to choose from will get smaller with crap left, and they will begin to search out aftermarket-

Buying, Selling, Selling, Buying, Buying, Selling, Buying...

My decision to buy depends on the deals I see in the asking prices for other .tv names.

Some names I intended to develop when I originally purchased them no longer fit with my current development plan so those are the ones I see myself selling in the future. I have too many .tv names (let alone .com names) to develop in one man's lifetime.

I am not buying any .TV at the moment. In my current financial standings, I could probably continue to hold throughout the next year, unfortunately some family related issues forced my hand and I am pressed to liquidate. Not really by choice, I love .tv and feel that I have alot of great names that would surely generate alot of income in the future. I have serious decisions to make in the coming week or two. Basically my father has yet to score another job after being let go in August and my Uncle whom is in charge of our ancestral lands in Hawaii has fallen far far behind on the mortgage and land that has been passed down for generations are in jeopardy of being foreclosed on. Our land has a heiau (which is a Hawaiian Temple or religious place) and I dont want some land developer clearing it to put up some apartments or something like that. Difficult choices.

So I definately am not buying any names at the moment. I still firmly believe in .TV but my time is running out. I may just have to liquidate the entire portfolio unless something amazing happens. I was thinking of selling the portfolio as a whole for something like $10k but I think I am just going to part it out via Sedo auctions starting at $100 each.

If I can't yield enough money from just the .Tvs, I will liquidate all of my .Coms :'( I have so much time invested in this I would liked to have gotten paid for my time at least!!! If I am pressed to sell everything I will be keeping about 50 domains total with development in mind.

I love .TV very much and will be keeping a small (about 20) portfolio of "Hawaii" and "photography" related names with the intention of developing them! I also will be keeping fightchannel.tv as I have already put up a site there. Since then I have learned alot of new SEO and artistic skills and I am just finishing up my biggest project to date: vercellishapes.com Once I finish this project I will also be developing estimator.tv in conjunction with measurequick.com, as my father is trying his best to launch his own business under that name as an estimator and hunter douglas rep. I intend on working my best magic for my father by redoing his entire site and I plan to integrate estimator.tv as his own personal video site, that will display homes that he worked on and tips for estimating your own home etc.

If I had already sold all of my .TV names and things changed I would definately re-invest back into .TV... fingers crossed!

Yes, still buying.

Generally, I'm only buying what will fit in with existing projects and domains- e.g. today I got rygbi.tv (rygbi = Welsh for rugby) to go with a Welsh rugby site I'm already working on. I'm not buying names speculatively.
(However if there's a name I like here on the cheap I might go for it).

I'm considering selling a pack of video dating .tvs only because I won't get round to developing them soon. (Although, I rarely sell as generally I'm buying names for development).

If a .tv catches my eye I will buy it otherwise I'm selling some and holding some. Also venturing into the dictionary .info market.

Now cooling my head about .TV for not selling cheap and buying only the memorable ones.
