Are you able to purchase a domain immediately once it drops? I'm looking at this domain for quite awhile now and it is about to drop (don't think the domain will be renewed by the owner) and I'm wondering if I can purchase it straight after it drops or there'll be a timeframe to wait before I can buy it?

Is there a need to backorder?

wow you been here 6 years so no clue if you are serious about this question.

Anyway the term "drop" is the final final process a domain goes through after it expires. From the expiration date until the name enters a pending delete state (if it ever does) can take some time depending on who the registrar is.

Tell me who the registrar is and ill give you way more info as to the possibilities.

Thanks for the reply.

The registrar seems to link to a reseller site according to whois: http://resellercamp.com

There is a good chance the name was caught by snapnames and placed there.

When you say its about to drop, is it already in redemption? Whats the exact status?

Ok

The usual process would be that come July 15 and he didn't renew, you will see a special page displayed when you visit the domain.

Resellercamp has a 40 day grace period for .com names, this USUALLY means that after 40 days it will go into redemption for about 30 days, after that it will go into the pending delete phase for 5 days. So start to finish figure about 75 days.

BUT during that time it might end up on auction, if it does it will 99% be on snapnames.

Keep on checking because unlike godaddy names that first go to a gd auction or enom names that end up on nj etc, with resellercamp you never know.
