Help with a pending delete drop

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
There's a domain registered at NameKing that is pendingDelete and I'd like to grab it. Anyone know if they partner with anyone for auctions and who?

Status: pendingDelete
Updated Date: 21-sep-2012

Should drop on the 26th I think, but I'm not seeing the domain listed on snapnames or namejet. I don't think there'll be any competition for the name. Think it's safe to wait and handreg or should I backorder it somewhere?

Any way to figure out the drop order and what time it'll drop at? I remember someone posting bout that before but can't find the thread.

With a domain in pending delete partnerships don't matter.

The domain will be released back to the registry and if it is any good there will be multiple dropcatchers going after it.

If it is a name you really want I would backorder it at NJ & Snap.
Would you rather pay $69 for the domain or not get it?

If you don't care that much try to hand reg it or just go with a GoDaddy backorder.

If it just turned pending delete today, then perhaps the dropcatchers just haven't listed the new names yet.

Whether you should backorder it would be dependant on how badly you want the name, and whether you are willing to "chance" it with a hand-reg. Is the possible savings enough of an incentive (and the possibility of someone else getting the name)?

Here's the domain lifecycle chart

Note that pending-delete restorable phase can last for 30 days.

Thanks for the reply Brad.

I'm not sure how bad I want it yet, I might backorder at NJ and SN. Might also try out Name.com's backorder as well.

A hand reg would beat out the godaddy backorder, I'll pass on that one :)

Good point on the drop catchers not listing it yet. I'll keep an eye on it and see if it gets listed or not. That will help me decide on doing a backorder or just trying for a hand reg.

Thanks for the life cycle, but I'm familiar with that. We're past the grace period and I watched it go through the whole redemption period. It's definitely in pendingDelete and not restorable.

You were right on that, the dropcatchers just got it listed this weekend.

Yes but if it's already been through a pre-release auction with no bidders then I'll skip the backorder and handreg it. I still haven't been able to figure out if they partner with anyone for auctions.

Is the registrar NameKing ? Snapnames for prerelease names, we got at least two from them.

Well there still aren't any bids yet that I can see, although I'm only checking snapnames and namejet. The domain drops tomorrow.

It's a generic keyword .com domain. It used to be parked. The .net is developed but hasn't been updated for a while and the .org doesn't have much on it.

I decided that I do want the domain for development. I have a meeting tomorrow afternoon so depending on drop time I won't be around to hand reg it right away. I'll probably just end up backordering it really late tonight.

EDITED.

Just got confirmation by email that Namejet grabbed the domain and my card has been charged.

keep in mind it can be as short as 35 days if the registrar doesn't offer a grace period..

All Hosting Coupons dot com :)

The major TLDs are taken, but the net looks old/crappy and the .org is undeveloped. There didn't seem to be a lot of competition for the domain that I could see, but I definitely decided I wanted to catch it instead of hoping to handreg it after the drop. I've got a site up already and I'm working on adding coupons to it this week.

I also have All Domain Coupons dot com, currently using it as a test site to play around with couponpress and will probably develop it later on.
