I bought some domains that I like it very much. Some good dictionary domains, for example. But, I didn't really know what will domain can do.
Does it like a stamp collector for hobby?

Have you ever buy domain just for your hobbies? not for sales.

Yes. I buy a few domains just for personal use for blogs and family sites. Nothing that generates revenue but something I can show friends and families.

Yeah, I also buy some for personal use with no intention to sell. Being a Webmaster is a Hobby and could be a business as well.

Some people collect them as a hobby; some to make a profit.

If you don't go crazy - You can balance the two very well !

I have +/- 40 Domains at the moment and have paid for all of them by trading/selling/buying.

Some are actually worth a few bucks here and there -

(I do have a bit of time involved - but that is the hobby part , lol ....)

Well, I buy domains mainly to develop them. A few I buy purely for speculative purposes. And a few I buy for family, friends, and neighborhood groups.

If someone has more than 200 posts here at NamePros, then I'd consider them as domain hobbyists, whether or not they realize it!

I purchase domains for my own personal collection, and for reselling as well.

I would class myself more as doing this for a hobby. I'd love to make some money out of it, and I've made a small amount, but we are only talking $xx here.

I do it more for fun than a serious 'job' which some lucky people use as their income! :p

I started domain trading just as a bit of fun, but now it is contributing a significant amount to my earnings so I think I am somewhere between it being a hobby and as part of my work.

Most are bought to resell, some are bought to develop, some are bought just for their traffic .... and some are bought just because I like them :)

I have about 150 domains now and have sold around 100 in the last 6 to 7 months.

I suppose I am an enthusiastic amateur :)

All the best

Richard

Same as you Bitshack.. :)

Started just out of curiosity, but I have 100+ domains now, all paid for from other domain sales (biggest so far is low $x,xxx), so I guess it's a bit more serious than a hobby (but not much.. :D )

I run several sites, some domains are parked for their traffic, and some I just bought because I like them..
(but I do have some are real crappy ones too of course ;) )

It's fun, and I learn something new every day.. :)

Same here, started regging domain for about 2 years or something. It was curiousity that killed the cat, some new extentions were hitting the market and I wanted to see if I could get some good once through a prereg. It worked out and in the meanwhile I bought and sold around 350+ domains with a variety of extensions. Right now it's just a hobby, I have around 100 domains right now and it's nice to sell one every now and then but nothing more. It's more a kind of "wanting to have", you see a nice name and the sport is to be the first one to get it. After that you park the domains and it will pay for it itself, hopefully..lol. For me it's nothing more then a game, grabbing and beeing first when new extensions are launched...but it's nice to play and game over will only come when you reg trash ,o)
