Are Snapnames/Drop catch still the best back orders to use?

    Hey everyone!

Last time I did this was like 2016 when I worked for another company but...

I've been asked to see if it's possible to grab a (possibly) expired domain, given the length of time since I last looked at this - is Dropcatch/snapnames still the best route to try and get it? Or are there better systems now available? at $60 per service, I don't mind using 2 or 3 services (the domain is pretty specific so its unlikely its going to get too much attention but even so).

I say 'possibly' expired because on WhoIs I get two conflicting expiry dates - May 2020 and 2021 respectively so it's a little confusing on if its been renewed or not or if its a glitch (the domain is with Tucows if that makes a difference? Tucows reports 2020).

    The domain status is:
    Domain Status: clientTransferProhibited
    Domain Status: clientUpdateProhibited

From Googling again, it looks like both of these are when the domain is transitioning to expired, but would anyone smarter than me confirm?

    Thank you!!!

I would say that DropCatch and SnapNames are still the two best dropcatchers. I took a long hiatus from domaining and when I got back into it this year much was still the same.

As far as whether the domain you are looking at is expired or not, from my experience the WHOIS with the later date is usually accurate as various WHOIS databases update at various times. But the question remains, even though the domain has been most likely renewed until 2021 it could in fact be the registrar renewing. I am not too familiar with Tucows drop/renew cycle but I know that Godaddy is known for renewing the names themselves and then listing on their auctions platform.

Thanks for the replies guys! I'll book my slots on Snap/Drop catch in hope!

This is great info too - ty! from looking at the WhoIs they are out of sync by about 5 days - not sure if that means anything. Tucows shows it as non-renewed and the other database (which im guessing is the master system? - sorry if that's technically inaccurate) shows as renewed, so if Tucows had renewed it themselves for auction - wouldn't it have been updated by now on their systems?
Really sorry if this is a stupid question/thought, trying to get my head around it to say the likelihood of having a 'chance' of owning the domain.

Realize Snapnames widely considered #2 best after DropCatch, right?

What is this “BB-online”? Is it your service?
Snapnames for sure, think should def win it!

I am surprised @Catched.com doesnt offer .fr
