Shouldn't there be some sort of qualifications for posting an appraisal? I've seen some of the most absurd values given by members that have just registered, just started domaining & have made 16 posts. It's one newbie giving another very bad information. And as you can see I'm not close to a seasoned vet around here, but have given my 2 cents on an appraisal (with a disclaimer!).

Am I off base here?

Users should always take appraisals anywhere with "a grain of salt".

There are appraisal questionnaires that are visible so that other users can view your appraisal technique.

If the person's answers don't make any sense, look for other replies. ;)

As ApeXX states appraisals should always be taken with a pinch of salt. At the end of the day it is only that particular persons opinion.

However here on namepros you can fill out an appraisals FAQ which can be found at http://www.namepros.com/profile.php?do=editinterview&icode=appraisal. Although this is not a hard and fastened rule of giving appraisals it can give an indication of the person giving the appraisal to the person who is asking. You can view the respondents answer to the FAQ by looking into their profile (you will see a link such as "View Appraisal Methods and Profile for armstrong" in the users post if they have filled out the FAQ, obviously the link I have posted the text for was from 1 of Armstrong's posts).
