Anyone use SMF forum on their site?

I'm trying to integrate Flashchat into my v1.15 Simple Machines forum (SMF). I installed the latest version of the chat, got it working to where it will show I'm in chat at the bottom of the forum screen and let me log in using my SMF forum login, but I can't get it to display an admin control panel in SMF or place a Chat button in SMF despite the fact I used a FlashChat integration mod. It works fine as a flash enabled chat but won't be much use if I can't access it from the forum.

Anyone else try this with any success?

Well what a coincidence :P

I just came onto the forum looking for someone who does SMF work lol

I'm trying to convert a phpBB2 forum over to SMF (which is proving to be alot more difficult than I expected, if anyone reading this does SMF work send me a PM :hehe:)

I've had fairly good experiences with SMF, but setting it up has always been a bit of a pain with me.

Good luck with integrating flash chat :)

I have a friend who successfully integrated the two softwares...

I haven't seen him around much as of late, but when I do I'll ask him to help you out. :)

Dave, you have to mod the fashchat files to display with your smf template(if using one). Check this site out for Theme Mods for the mod, http://www.daniel15.com/forum/index.php/topic,856.html.

There it will help you get it all set up and to display properly in your theme. Also if you need the chat button you will have to ask that Daniel15 guy to help you.

One more thing to look out for is logging in. For some reason after about a month that i had SMF, it wouldnt let anyone log in. There is a fix for it but i was left to abbandon the forum because i could not log in at all. Just a heads up ;)

Yeah, that's the mod I'm using.. it passes the login info into the chat ok but does not modify the index template to display the chat button (which I have) or display the admin CP in the forum control panel. I checked the suggested fixes and my index template doesn't even have the code they say you need to replace.

I could never get this mod to work properly for me. It would not display correctly and it would not integrate correctly with my flash chat. I converted my forum from MyBB to SMF without any hassle. ;)

Try changing the default language to English instead of English-UTF8 or something like that. Maybe that will help ;) let me know!

MyBB and Ajax Chat

Personally, I feel MyBB rocks. Ajax Chat can be integrated into it.

I can try migration to MyBB, if interested.

SMF official forum has a thread for each mod, did you post your problem there ? that's the fastest way to get answers.
