I am looking at selling my LLLL.com on Ebay is this a good place to sell domains
has anyone sold domains there whats the risk selling there.
Sleepys said:I have seen a lot of people selling names on ebay for $.99 or $1.00. Either these people don't consider the fees when selling or simply don't care. Ebay charges a minimum of $.20 + 5.5% (if the item is started at $1.00, the minimum is $.40 + 5.5%. The minimum fee to accept Paypal is $.30 + 4.9% (plus 2.5% for international payments, plus an additional 2% for exchangeing international). So, if the seller ends up listing and selling the name for $.99, the fees are going to be $.20+$.06+$.30+$.05=$.61. This means that the seller makes a total of $.39 on the deal, which hardly seems worth it. If the deal is across borders or if it is started for $1.00 instead of $.99 (please don't do that), the profit is less.
I am just pointing this out, so you won't waste any time. Hopefully you would have considered the fees anyway, but I thought I would put these cheap ebay sales in perspective for everyone.

Sleepys said:I should also point out that the $.20 fee for $.99 and under listings and the $.40 for $1.00-$24.99 is for the price you list the name at, not the selling price. If you list if at $1.00 and then drop the price to $.99 or $.01, your fee for that part will still be $.40. They call this part of the fee the "insertion fee", because it is based on the starting price.

Everytime I sell a domain name and its NOT with godaddy the buyer never understands about transfers. It will CLEARLY state which reg its with and they STILL will send me there Godaddy info OR dont know how to do a transfer OR something elese.....That REALLY makes me mad :yell:
