The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

Depends.....it's kind of the same as here, as in, people here will randomly look on ebay to find a good deal. Don't expect to make any more then you would here, and in reality expect less.

Unless you have a REALLY great name, it just isn't worth it. And if you do have a really great name, it isn't worth it either.

It's fairly risky. Ebay is pretty much all over the place.. Average sale is slightly higher than Namepros (lower than TDNAM), but eBay is also the source of a disproportionate number of bargains.

I sell low priced domains there all the time. Had one nice sale for $1,500 a few months ago. Its a good place to sell dropped domains you just registered too.

I have seen a lot of people selling names on ebay for $.99 or $1.00. Either these people don't consider the fees when selling or simply don't care. Ebay charges a minimum of $.20 + 5.5% (if the item is started at $1.00, the minimum is $.40 + 5.5%. The minimum fee to accept Paypal is $.30 + 4.9% (plus 2.5% for international payments, plus an additional 2% for exchangeing international). So, if the seller ends up listing and selling the name for $.99, the fees are going to be $.20+$.06+$.30+$.05=$.61. This means that the seller makes a total of $.39 on the deal, which hardly seems worth it. If the deal is across borders or if it is started for $1.00 instead of $.99 (please don't do that), the profit is less. If any special features are used, the amount you get for your name can end up being less than the ebay fees.

I am just pointing this out, so you won't waste any time. Hopefully you would have considered the fees anyway, but I thought I would put these cheap ebay sales in perspective for everyone.

Thanks for giving me your time and helping out:)

Gonna drop the price of AEYY.COM later today and see if that does the trick
:)

Just an FYI, today only is $.10 listing fee day. So if you don't use a picture, then it is just 10 cents.

I should also point out that the $.20 fee for $.99 and under listings and the $.40 for $1.00-$24.99 is for the price you list the name at, not the selling price. If you list if at $1.00 and then drop the price to $.99 or $.01, your fee for that part will still be $.40. They call this part of the fee the "insertion fee", because it is based on the starting price.

I just listed a couple more domains and they make you use atleast one picture.

As long as you don't gallery the picture, they don't charge the 35 cents. Or at least the ones I listed didn't.

Selling On Ebay

I would say sell on ebay if you really dont care about the domain name HOWEVER...

Everytime I sell a domain name and its NOT with godaddy the buyer never understands about transfers. It will CLEARLY state which reg its with and they STILL will send me there Godaddy info OR dont know how to do a transfer OR something elese.....That REALLY makes me mad :yell:

Yeah thats what I am worried about AEYY.COM is with Network Solutions
and requires the buyer to do the feel transfer via Pull/push.

And like you say some buyers whom don't know what they are doing can't even do a transfer does not look like I will bother with Ebay.

thanks for the time given Nattydomain :)

Few months ago, I sold one domain on ebay.
I got that domain for $25 or $30 from another domainer.
I sold it for $1,000

Yes, I had to give buyer short and simple step by step instruction
on how to initiate escrow process and how to set up acct at my registrar.

Whole process took about 3 days.

I just might take advantage of $.10 listing fee special and list few more domains ;)

I've been selling a few on eBay (see sig) and have noticed a few other NPers both buying and selling there.

Risk of listing is just the usual spam/scam junk messages (not too many)

I'm a bit more wary when buying there - shill bidding and stuff like that seems much more dilligently monitored here on NP - also a lot easier to check feedback for both buyers and sellers here, even if no TR at least can get a sense about who you're dealing with if you check for posts etc ...

eBay seems to be a broader audience though, so far it's been pretty good for both buying bargains and selling at usually decent prices - though it's a bit hit or miss sometimes!

I had a group of names on ebay for 5 days, not a single offer. These same names sold almost instantly on namepros....same ball park price....so, who knows?

I won't bother with ebay again.

eBay is geared toward no-reserve auctions; you'll have better luck with that format.

I sold 5 LLLL.com's at eBay earlier this month. The results:

FBQM - $20.50
MQDR - $20.50
QGTH - $20.50
TMQF - $16.37
SVLJ - $32

Pretty low prices for the first four, each of which has 3 premium letters. So I wouldn't recommend eBay for LLLL.com's.
