Hello,

can someone lead me to a site where I can see what rules are guilty for the different tlds-names? For example .com can be minimum 3 signs long, contain signs, letters and "-" and so on...

These rules are different for every tld. Does someone know a place where I can see these rules?

Greetings!

I think its not what I search.

I want to know the rules for valid registerable domainnames. For example a .com can be registered with not less then 3 signs, can contain the signs a-z,0-9 and "-" and so on. Other tlds have other rules... Im searching a list with this rules....

Greetings!

I think your best bet would be to use the IANA root zone database which has all the extensions listed and links to the sponsoring organization. By looking directly at the sponsoring organization's website for extensions you're interested in (often in the FAQ section or a section that says something to the extent of "requirements to register a .ext domain"), you'll be certain you're getting the current rules which may have changed since other websites first put up information on those extensions.

See: http://www.iana.org/domains/root/db/

Interesting Link because it seems to have all tlds in the list and the matching whois-server... Thats cool because I want to build a script for testing domain names on registering status...

What about IDN-Domains? And what about the new tlds with freely chooseable extension? What Whois-server is for that extensions?

Greetings!
